Sleep length also factors in there and is usually a myth.
Sleeping too much is almost as bad as sleeping too little, and the values for "too much" and "too little" vary by person.
My good night's sleep lasts a little over 6 hours. If anyone else home sleeps this much they'll wake up zombies.

MY next goal:

There is a zombie 10k at the end of the summer. Sort of a Cross Country, obstacle, "not tough mudder" but harder than a normal 5K I want to do more than just.... complete it. So, my goal is to be in good enough shape that I can put forth a respectable showing in that.

In the process, I'm hoping to drop the last 5 lbs to my first goal weight of 175. That will be losing the fat, gaining muscle, so it should be as big of a process as what I've gone through. So far, I've been focusing on really shedding more weight than anything else. I've gained more muscle, and I'm in better shape, but I want to go from where I'm at, to in really good shape.

My ultimate goal is to look good naked.

But that's going to take time. I have a lot of excess skin, that's going to have to tighten up. Right now, I sort of look like a woman who just had a baby. My stomach is very.... gross. I knew that was going to be part of the process, because you don't lose 100+ lbs, and not end up with excess skin.

But next goal: Zombie 10k.

About the smiling:
I'm actually a lot happier than I ever have been. I don't smile much in pictures. I'm incredibly self conscious about my smile, so I really only smile when I'm in a picture with someone. I rarely smile in pictures by myself.

I just chopped all of my hair off today, so I will post a smiley picture. I feel like a new man :)

Research suggests that it's not the length of sleep overall but the number of sleep cycles you go through. They tend to come closer together with shorter periods in each stage at the beginning of sleep, and get progressively longer as sleep continues. I don't know of any studies done on it, but I would lay good money on the "sweet spot" being where a full sleep cycle starts taking over 45 minutes each or so (roughly about 5-7 hours total). This is why a 20 minute power nap is considered to be pretty good - when you first fall asleep, the entire cycle (from light sleep back to light sleep) takes about 20 minutes.

I am trying out parkour tonight. I will likely be unable to walk tomorrow.

Also, I've got yet another injury (this is driving me crazy) that I don't know what it is and I can't ask the physiotherapist yet because my benefits don't roll over till April 1st and I'm out of cash for it. It's between my left butt cheek and my thigh - it just feels sore 24/7. It's pretty deep into the lower bum cheek so it makes me think it's some kind of connective tissue inflammation. It feels awkward when I go up stairs (feels weak), but when I run on it I don't feel anything. Sitting doesn't hurt either. It's probably been going on for about two months and while it's been varying degrees of pain, it's never really gone away. Stretching seemed to help it, but it never dissipates completely. Any ideas?

And be careful with parkour. It's ridiculously easy to break yourself doing that - I sincerely hope you're starting in a gym on pads instead of trying to do it outdoors on buildings and the like.

Blargh, so possibly what happened to my shoulder... just at the top of my leg muscle instead. Fabulous. (It's definitely not where the hip is though.)

The parkour thing is inside in a gym. I think it'll mostly be running/jumping to begin with since everyone I'm going with is a stark beginner and I'm the only one who even has any gymnastics experience at all.

Running is one of the easiest sports to get into. Strap your shoes on and just go outside. Run as slow as you want, and as little as you want, and then just increase it the next time you go out. You don't need a gym membership, or a GPS tracker, or any kind of fancy gear - just a pair of shoes (and a sports bra if you're a chick).

I found out I put a few pounds back on (whoops), so I may try this out to try and shed them again. Still can't find a proper motivation, 'cause I don't think "to get people to shut the hell up before I punch them" is a good one. Am going to drag my roommate into this since he does want to lose his bulk.

Big downside is that, due to stupidity at work and shit, I'll have to get up an hour earlier to do this, which will make me even more pissed off than normal, which should be an absolute joy for whomever I interact with.
