After finally watching the premiere, I gotta say, woah!

I got what I wanted, a glimpse into the fight between Celestia and Luna, and Celestia, Luna and Discord. I actually wanted full episodes, but I will take what I can, given that I was expecting one or the other, not both.

Also, the moment they showed the Tree, you could tell they would have to give up the elements, specially after saying again and again that was what kept them together.

Also, did anyone notice that Twilight is now a smidge taller than everyone else?

I liked this one. Not loved like I did Return of Harmony, but it really had its moments like, indeed, the History lesson (which leads me to wonder WHY did we see Nightmare Moon's birth as it had nothing to do with the Seeds of Discord main plot).

To me, it felt like preparation for the season, stuffing old plots in the fridge and broaching unclear stuff left behind by old stories. Then again, big adventures never were my thing much with ponies, so I'm not worried - this was an episode for people with hang-ups over Twilight's upgrade, not me.
When that day comes, seek all the light and wonder of this world, and fight.

I am guessing
- Celestia has the biggest element of harmony
- Most ponies enjoy the day more than they enjoy the night, thus Luna's efforts seem wasted
- The did kind of look a bit beat up, so I am guessing they tried to fight them individually at first. It woulda been easy for Discord to go "Celestia couldn't beat me, what makes you believe you can, being the lesser sister" and whatnot.

I'm actually talking about conservation of detail - Why did Twilight see NM's birth, it had NOTHING to do with the Seeds of Discord or the Tree. What is it in that specific event that is so important the she ( and us) have to see it?

I'm thinking we're not done with that day. Because otherwise, that scene would have no point in the narrative. There's significance there, and I'm guessing it has something to do with whatever poured out of the Moon - was it just me or did Luna seem surprised to see the fog?

The problem with the comics is that the whole Nightmarity Arc is giant Continuity Snarl. Luna reverts to her S1 look, even tho the events are supposed to be post Halloween Episode and everyone acts like if that Halloween episode never happened in the first place, yet Secret of my Excess is heavily referenced.

Their stance was something like: "It's canon until we say or show otherwise", so...

CBA to care - they interest me mostly to create a context for the series.
Meanwhile, even if NMR has been canon'ed down, doesn't mean the Nightmare Force doesn't exist...
