I've never played Eve, but I'm always fascinated when I read about it. ^^
That must've seriously hurt, though.

the attitude of some people on these forums...amusing in a facepalming sort of way
Image

Brekkie:Tanks are like shitty DPS. And healers are like REALLY distracted DPS
Amirya:Why yes, your penis is longer than his because you hit 30k dps in the first 10 seconds. But guess what? That raid boss has a dick bigger than your ego.
Flex:I don't make mistakes. I execute carefully planned strategic group wipes.
Levie:(in /g) It's weird, I have a collar and I dont know where I got it from, Worgen are kinky!
Levie:Drunk Lev goes and does what he pleases just to annoy sober Lev.
Sagara:You see, you need to *spread* the bun before you insert the hot dog.

Yeah, the backstabbery there seems to be increasing. Much popcorn to be eaten.

realizing that explaining the concept of 'opposite' to a 3 year old is really hard (examples: easy. General conceptual explanation and simple definition: hard)... and wondering how a dictionary defined it.

Funny enough, Myriam-Webster uses a circular definition with 'diametric'. Don't have access to the OED anymore, so not sure what they do.

Something like "being the other of two complementary or mutually exclusive things".
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/opposite

When I'm faced with a troublesome word that needs defining, I think of synonyms that might be easier to define, and look into the etymology of the word. "other side". "contradiction". "antonym".

If all else fails, resort to a round-about explanation using examples. Bright / dark is a good one.

I enjoyed trying to teach my grand nephew how to use a fork and knife properly.

I gotta see if the Imax across the street from my office is going to get it. Not just is the place not that much more expensive and never full, but I can't think of a better place to watch giant robots punch giant monsters.

Well, rats were the vector for the Black Death of the 1300s and the plague outbreak in 1664/5 in London :)

Well, if the CIO had a stronger background in the humanities than in computer and information technology, then I could see that. May not be the only time too :P

though interestingly, from the report linked in the article, that gross incompetence across the board is to blame, and apparently the IT section had a history of poor performance.

Yes, I'm looking forward to it. It's getting very positive reviews, and it's Del Toro.
