Well, rats were the vector for the Black Death of the 1300s and the plague outbreak in 1664/5 in London :)

Well, if the CIO had a stronger background in the humanities than in computer and information technology, then I could see that. May not be the only time too :P

though interestingly, from the report linked in the article, that gross incompetence across the board is to blame, and apparently the IT section had a history of poor performance.

I don't think this is what they meant when they said that my guildies were trolls.

Yes, I'm looking forward to it. It's getting very positive reviews, and it's Del Toro.

We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

She sounds so... earnest. Like she really believes this stuff and that it's all so straightforward and obvious.

That's really the scariest kind, isn't it?

Why would you want to become a citizen of a monarchy, albeit only a constitutional one, if you don't like the idea of a monarch as head of state?

So bad it is bad until the tornado happens then you get some of the best scenes in movie history.

For Example

Dude jumps into a shark's mouth with a chainsaw, gets swallowed whole and then cuts his way out from the inside.

Was running Grim Batol for greenies on my warlock, when while approaching to Drahga, saw him running to a door and saying "Let me in or you-know-who will know about it!"

Almost fell off the chair when I caught HP the reference :P

I've gone back to Star Wars: the Old Republic as on a FTP basis and it's amusing playing a WoW clone that is several years behind the curve compared to the real thing. Don't get me wrong, I think STWOR is a great game but it is SO close to WOW, it's jarring to find it behind it on so many aspects. For example, you can mark targets by "/mark 1" but you can't write a macro to keybind to do that for you. People strive to maximise their dps without a dps meter. There's sophisticated mathematical modelling of optimal tank stats by fans but it seems to be based on MDR, so often favours defence (avoidance) over endurance (stamina) and makes no mention of damage smoothing or bursts.

It's a great game (the voice acting and quests still impress, after a year's absence) but it feels like stepping back in time. A sort of gamers' "Life on Mars" or "Ashes to Ashes".

So Bioware never gave in to the fans, eh?

That was a complaint put forth by many fans, that SWTOR was plagued by black box engineering. They would not let you do things you'd normally be able to do in other MMOs, they'd not let you know things you'd normally be able to find out in other MMOs.

I also remember someone mentioning that Star Wars feels like a good rival to WOW, if WOW was stuck in BC.

Kind of glad that's still the case, because there was a lot of hubris involved in the managing of that game.

I think it was SW:ToR where quite a few dps specs actually did more dps by purely auto-attacking, because special attacks pushed back the melee swing.

For the 5th time in 2 months, I wrote a ticket and got answered (and fixed if possible) by very gentle GMs within 10 minutes of submitting it...

What's going on, I'm worried!
