Buff vs Debuff

Postby AdHoc » Fri May 03, 2013 2:27 am

Hi

I need some advice regarding buffs and debuffs.
My raid group's warlock is going to be leaving and the replacement we have is a caster shaman (either elemental or restoration).
Our priest is currently discipline, but is equally skilled as shadow.

So we were thinking of changing our setup to:
Tanks: DK, Paladin
Heals: Druid, Paladin, Shaman
DPS: Elemental shaman, Fury warrior, Hunter, Monk, Priest
We can of course run two elemental shamans and keep the the discipline priest.

The problem being is that we're either going to lack the melee attack speed buff or the magical damage taken debuff.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone here can advise as to which (de)buff provides the greatest benefit to the above raid group setup.

In our current setup (which has all the buffs and debuffs) our melee are out performing the ranged by a significant margin, so I'm of the opinion that the melee haste buff would benefit the group better simply because the melee are more skilled (to put it bluntly).

Thanks

At a quick glance, Id say you want the attackl speed buff before the magic damage taken debuff - possibly unless your hunter is survival.
(Also note that the attack speed buff is not melee, its attack speed, benefits hunters as well, both autoshots and casttime shots)

AS benefits both tanks, Warrior, Hunter and monk.
Magical damage debuff benefits Shaman priest and the DK diseases (not 100% on teh diseases)

hunters can add almost any buff/debuff through their pets so as long as that guy's around, you can swap things around a bit. another question is how casual/hardcore you guys are. the three good healers for 10 men right now are disciple priest, paladin and monk. shamans and druids are in general significantly worse. there's some fights where each of them shines, but in general having no disc priest and both shaman and druid is a problem.

you also lose spellpower with the warlock. the ideal setup with the classes you got available would probably be:

tank dk, paladin
healer priest, paladin, shaman
dps elemental, balance, fury warrior, hunter, monk

http://raidcomp.mmo-champion.com/?c=147 ... 0000000000

that gives you access to all raid buffs/debuffs, has the two currently broken classes (prot paladin, disc priest) and a good mix of range/melee.

if the druid only wants to heal, going with two dps shamans is ok too, but would probably be better to have one enhancement:

http://raidcomp.mmo-champion.com/?c=16e ... 0000000000

that gives you access to everything as well.

Side note here...

There's a nice addon called RaidCheckList (or something like that) that shows the buff coverage, and what classes/pets bring that buff/debuff.

One thing, and I'm just going from memory here (so I could be wrong), is that the hunter pets give a 2-minute attack speed buff and 45 second spell-damage debuff.

If you keep the windserpent/dragonhawk as the hunter's main pet and hyena/snake in his "Fave Five", then you're still getting the attack speed buff for 2 minutes of every 5. (The pet casts the buff during Stampede.) He can also cast Serpent's Swiftness/Cackling Howl manually pre-combat and switch pets before the pull, or he can even try to monitor the buff and swap pets to re-buff during combat at the cost of some personal dps.

(And yes, I absolutely cringed when they changed Dismiss Pet from 2 seconds to 3... :( )
