SoI actually higher dps than SoT?

Postby Smackybear » Fri Mar 29, 2013 1:34 pm

I've been noticing in my logs lately that Consecration makes up a massive chunk of my total damage even on single target fights. I was curious if the 10% spell haste bonus from Seal of Insight actually puts SoI ahead of SoT even in the dps department since Consecration is affected by it. Has anyone looked into that already?

I'm pretty sure consecration doesn't benefit from spell haste, neither do any of our offensive spells. The only benefit via haste would be haste (not spell haste, just haste) lowering its cooldown.

Check the mathlab thread, i there was some mention of it recently.

SoI has absolutely no DPS benefit at all.

Consecration does not work like a normal DoT - it's a fixed 1-second tick interval.

Doesn't it tick immediately when you first place it, though? Possibly just me imagining it or it'd be from a previous one when I see it seem to do that in-game, but if so that would give a mild increase to Consecration damage from Haste alone.

Not sure though.

I don't believe it does, but regardless that wouldn't make any difference. It's modeled as a fixed 9 ticks with no clipping, which is being as generous to it as we can be. Consecration only gets hurt by haste (in that if you recast it sooner than ~8 seconds, you lose a tick from the previous cast and reduce it's damage per cast), it's never helped by it.
