Or am I misreading that breakdown?
I was fitting against AP. It's 0.08*AP, so it'll be 0.16*SP.
For some reason I have most of the healing spells coded according to SP scaling in the MATLAB code, probably because that's the native scaling given on the tooltips.

Log for test #50. Agwyne dueling me with a Club, attacking from behind while I wail on a dummy. Filtered log is slightly more useful
Sequence #1:
SotR's mitigation preserved the "extra" mastery from the trinket even after the trinket effect fell off (with no trinket active, SotR drops the damage to 407, see below).
Sequence #2:
In this case, the trinket had no effect on SotR's mitigation because it was used during an existing SotR buff.
Conclusion is that refreshing the SotR buff does not recalculate mitigation percentage, thus it's in our best interest to stack mastery effects (trinkets, potions, etc) before casting our first SotR of a Holy Avenger to benefit from the increased mitigation (i.e. macro trinkets to your HA keybind, for example).

Re: A Call to Arms - MoP Mechanics Testing
could have told you that before tested this a couple od month ago only by watching the SoTR buff
it's a bit tricky that it acts that way. means we have to start building up this "Cooldown" a couple of GCD before the damage hits us.
but its great for combination with heroism/lust haste trinkets when you know in advance when it comes. Meaning using the mastery trinket way before and using the first SoTR with only a couple seconds left on the mastery gain, keeping it up for > 30 seconds and having the benefit of it. getting the most gain out of a mastery effect.
what I'm more curious about does Bastion of Glory works the same?

Test #43: Glyph of Avenging Wrath (1% heal per second):
http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/durj ... m1c0d/log/
total life: 594263
total life x 1.2: 713115 (/100 = 7131.15)
=> Seal of Insight does not change the amount healed by Glyph of Avenging Wrath.
Had to go pummel a target dummy at the end so that the log was long enough to upload.

yep i know, that is why it's nice to see it confirmed here. (allthough I saw that there was no difference in the hits received while using the trinket during a bossfight with HA and SOTR up)

Re: A Call to Arms - MoP Mechanics Testing
Updating for a few tests that I've run recently
Consecration
Consecration obeys standard DoT mechanics, but with a fixed tick interval. If re-cast while there are still several ticks remaining, it only preserves the current one.
In this first log, I just cast Cons once under heroism to confirm that the tick spacing is fixed at 1 second, even under heroism. This was performed with 19.92% spell haste +heroism for a total of 55.90% spell haste.
Under the same conditions, I cast Consecration and refreshed it as soon as the spell cooldown would allow (~6 second cooldown in this case):
6 ticks before the second cast, but only 10 ticks following it.
Light's Hammer
LH is definitely affected by the AoE target cap. Damage per mob was reduced for a group of 18 mobs. Reduced damage observed was appropriate for our understanding of damage cap mechanics (damage_per_mob=(base damage)*cap/number_of_mobs = (base damage)*10/18 in this case).

Yes, but this was tested on live, so the cap in that test is still 10. That's partly why I went to the trouble of testing it today - it's easier to group up ~20 mobs than it is 30+.

Re: A Call to Arms - MoP Mechanics Testing
I think it's time for a quick formula audit - a commenter on my blog noted that our formula for Sacred Shield is probably incorrect (and our formula undervalues Sacred Shield, if you can believe that!). It may be worth doing a re-test of the AP/SP scaling of all of our abilities.
Test #55: Ability damage/healing formulas
Test #56: Sacred Shield formula
Note that any one person need only do one test in one or two gear sets; if a couple people submit data, then each one only needs to spend ~15 minutes (rather than one person spending hours on this).
Test #55: Ability damage/healing formulas
- Gear : Various, take note of AP/SP for each gear set.
- Seal : Insight.
- Buffs : none.
- Target : any target dummy, but note level. No stray debuffs from other players.
- Glyphs: Focused Wrath glyph preferred, no other damage-affecting glyphs (i.e. no Focused Shield, Final Wrath, etc.)
- Attack sequence : Any, but use all relevant abilities - CS, HotR, J, AS, HW, Cons, SotR, WoG, EF.
- Methodology : Spend ~15 minutes on a dummy, producing as many casts as you can of each of these abilities.
- Goal : ~15 minutes of data for each of 5-6 gear sets at varying levels of AP/SP.
Test #56: Sacred Shield formula
- Gear :Any, but take note of AP/SP
- Seal : Insight.
- Buffs : none.
- Target : World mob that does enough damage to break your Sacred Shield in one melee attack (i.e., gear-appropriate)
- Glyphs/Talents: Any
- Methodology: Use Sacred Shield before engaging (at 0 Vengeance, in other words). Then engage mob and log combat. Once SS falls off, feel free to stop logging and just kill the mob. Do not refresh SS at any point - we just want one cast pre-pull.
- Goal : Several logs like this for a variety of AP/SP levels (i.e. naked up to fully geared). I suggest finding easier mobs for the naked sets just to be safe.
Note that any one person need only do one test in one or two gear sets; if a couple people submit data, then each one only needs to spend ~15 minutes (rather than one person spending hours on this).

Re: A Call to Arms - MoP Mechanics Testing
Found an easier way to do #56. Using the following lua code:
I can just extract the absorb value directly from the buff (and AP from character sheet). I confirmed via logs that this method is accurate (i.e. the absorb observed is exactly equal to the number returned by UnitBuff).
Data:
Fit:
So it looks like the formula is 342.5+0.585*AP, slightly different from what we had (5879 + 0.78*SP, or 5879+0.39*AP). Note that this means SS is actually stronger than we've been giving it credit for.
Note: round(342.5+0.585*AP) gives exact agreement, down to the last point of absorption, for all values tested.
- Code: Select all
name, rank, icon, count, dispelType, duration, expires, caster, isStealable, shouldConsolidate, spellID, canApplyAura, isBossDebuff, unk, value1, value2, value3 = UnitBuff("player", "Sacred Shield")
base, posbuff, negbuff = UnitAttackPower("player")
DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("-------------------------")
DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("AP = "..base)
if name then
DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("value1 = "..value1)
end
DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("-------------------------")

AP Absorb
608 698

8384 5247
9870 6116

22674 13607
26448 15815
27728 16563
Fit:
- Code: Select all
Linear model Poly1:
f(x) = p1*x + p2
Coefficients (with 95% confidence bounds):
p1 = 0.585 (0.585, 0.585)
p2 = 342.2 (341.9, 342.5)
Goodness of fit:
SSE: 0.7965
R-square: 1
Adjusted R-square: 1
RMSE: 0.2691
