Pretty well. Both of our families have been very helpful and supportive.

So my dad's got stage one throat cancer. Highly treatable. He's getting a surgery appointment within the next 4-7 days.

I feel kind of distant from it, which is a bit weird. I've never been close with my parents, but I think the kicker for me is that everyone in my family seems to end up with cancer, but survives it just fine (aside from my grandfather whom I never knew). So I'm not really scared of cancer, which is probably a bad thing.

IDK. The highest priority where cancer is concerned is detect early, treat early. Your "experience" probably makes you wary of the whole thing (and, I'm guessing, checking often enough), but calm enough not to treat it like a death sentence.

All in all, I think you're probably in the best position to protect yourself from cancer!

On my end...
Transplant is a no go, donor's family fucked up. Radiosurgery will be done in a couple weeks in addition to the Chemo she started this week.

I'd totally forgotten how to hang out with straight women. (My usual circles are gay men and straight men.) I'm going out with my cousin tonight and she was like "so do you want to get ready together at one of our places?" Quickly followed by "and can you do my makeup?" I burst out laughing because it's been about 6 years (so we're talking pre-WoW) that I've just hung out with another woman who wasn't gay and I'd totally forgotten about the "pre-drink, pre-dress" shebang that women go through.
