I'm seriously reconsidering my stances on abortion based on this cretin. I used to support it being legal as a necessary but distasteful evil. Now I'm starting to think that maybe it is a good idea for some people.

So apparently some hot shot minister questions Obama's religious beliefs. This coming from a Christian who supported a Mormon who had no interest in feeding the hungry or healing the sick or housing the homeless or doing anything resembling anything the New Testament stands for.

TBH, I was leaning that way originally ... I can't tell if its satire or actual stupidity... going with the latter though because I'm jaded, but if its a troll... then well played.

(And to be quite honest, I actually got a laugh out of the idea that anyone born via C-section is ineligible because it's not a natural birth.)

Right. Except for Anthony Weiner, Elliott, Spitzer, Michael Bloomberg, Hank Johnson, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, John Edwards, Marion Barry, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Charlie Rangel, John Kerry, Elizabeth Warren, Ray Nagin, Kwame Kilpatrick... I'll stop before I have to start looking up names.

To paraphrase Lewis Black, the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is that the Republicans are currently a party of no ideas, and the Democrats a party of bad ideas. I don't support up to about half the Republican agenda on social issues. And I don't support hardly any of the Democrats mismanagement of fiscal or foreign issues, not to mention domestic policy. I Just personally happen to give more of a shit about fiscal solvency and the price tag for the ACA than I do about social issues. And I'll happily call the duck of Republican stupidity a duck. There just happen to be far more voices here already doing that for me.

For the rest, I won't presume to judge Obama's religion, since there are quite enough religious hypocrites out there. I'm agnostic but I respect and accept that some people are going to base their lives around fiction. However, I'm also pretty tired of people shoving religion into social issues, and my first response to someone telling me the Bible says abortion is wrong is that they probably shouldn't have one.

As for Romney, he and I think alike in that charity begins at home. I'm far more receptive to people's own charitable giving than I having it done by the government. But then, that's because the government is particularly wasteful and not particularly effective. Otherwise we probably would have won the war on poverty or the war on drugs by now.

Romney's presidential bid reminded me a lot of McCain, in that he wouldn't put up a fight and was all snake oil and mirrors. I don't know at this point what he truly believed, but I know what he promised to do, and I was willing to believe in a promise of change versus what had previously been delivered. That should probably sound familiar to Obama's campaign this time around.
