This statement kind of depresses me. If you don't have a "problem" with it, then why is is it a "major" thing?

Vote YES for Marriage Equality.
Vote YES for gambling expansion so when the newly married gay couples realize that marriage is horrible they can now go play blackjack and poker and drink the troubles away at a real casino.

We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

I had major in quotes, because of how others treat the fact she's gay. I'm more like "Huh?" /shrug.

I get what you mean - you missed something that was most likely a talking point about the candidate, so you wonder what else you may have missed. You don't mean it's a big deal to you, but it would have entered the political rhetoric at some point because it is an issue to some and would even be considered ammunition to the reactionaries.

From what I read it wasn't much of a talking point, Republicans didn't have much to gain from that tactic as it really hasn't worked in all the years she's been in politics, so why would it work now.

The most interesting and exciting news for me was the expansion of racial/religious diversity we got:

A buddhist in the senate and a hindu in congress, that's a pretty great step forward for our white|christian dominated federal government.

Re: LGBT rights discussion
I fear there may be something inherently wrong with me, as it seem that somehow, what I say/type doesn't convey what I intend it to mean. Least, it happens enough to cause me to start worrying.
To further clarify, I did very little research. Mainly enough to decide I didn't like Thompson. I think one of them being his stance against gay marriage. The first time I heard she was gay was when I read she won the race, which is also ALWAYS mentioned when discussing she won the race.
In high school I worked at McDonaldd, and a female classmate came through the drive thru. My manager asked me "Not to hate" my classmate, as she was gay. I was utterly baffled at why I would hate her. But, it saved me energy and time by not pursuing her. I hate wasting time and effort when I can avoid it.
