Richard is decidedly NOT a tank. And his methods tend to be a bit extreme even for the biggest S&M fan (death usually isn't the end goal.)
As for my S&M knowledge... I spend a good 2/3rds of my day on the internet... what are the odds that I wouldn't have learned about it?

Well that depends on your internet habits
Tough of course, the greater your plane of contact with other nerds (I am using nerd lovingly, and including myself), the less the chance of NOT learning about it, as nerds tend to share and go offtopic in hints.
