Re: LGBT rights discussion
I saw that link initially on facebook. With the article that was attached and how the video started, I'll admit to getting ready to hate the guy. Glad I watched the full vid (though I was confused for a bit at the end... it took a while to process what exactly happened there due to my initial conclusions.)
Just goes to show that preconceptions can really be a bad thing.

It's nice and all, he is just completely horrible at selling the point at the end so it comes off as being poorly done to me.
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

Not too long ago the membership list for the BNP got leaked in plain text form. It was fun/scary seeing exactly who in my town was a member along with their full address and telephone number...

I'll look into that but I don't think it's to be taken seriously. We have a long and storied history here in New Zealand of taking the piss out of pretty much any issue.

Or was it meant to be tongue in cheek, and ridiculous on purpose?

Funny that she'd choose the duck, considering the notorious mating behaviours of the common mallard.

I'm amused that someone who (supposedly) doesn't believe in evolution is worried that evolution is going to cause us problems in the future...

May possibly vomit if Romney gets elected.
(To be fair I'd also vomit if Tony Abbott got elected in Australia's next election. At least Labour isn't as openly antagonistic when it comes to equal rights)

Re: LGBT rights discussion
I like how their map is showing a lot of the battleground states leaning Democrat (enough that Obama is projected to win.) NC is leaning Republican, but that's not really that much of a surprise.

Re: LGBT rights discussion
Congratulations Maryland, Maine, and Washington on legalising gay marriage; and Wisconsin for electing the US' first openly gay Senator.
Edit: And apparently Minnesota rejected a constitutional ban.

Denmark has not only ahd recognized (legal) gay partnerships for years - ealier this year churchweddings were made available/legal for gays as well (any priest who is opposed is not obliged to perform said ceremonies of course, but you can bring any priest in as a substitute, as far as I'm aware)

That's pretty much the Maryland law.

I am embarrassed to say that I didn't know Baldwin was gay when I voted for. Not that I have a problem with it, just means I obviously needed more research if I missed such a "major" thing. Ah well, alls well that ends well.
