Since 5.0 AS has a 3 seconds silence.

I think he is referring to whether second and third targets are affected by silence versus the just the first target.

^ that.
If i cast it on 3 caster mobs only one gets silenced/interrupted for me.

My apologies, allow me to rephrase.

Since 5.0 AS has a 3 seconds silence only on the first target.

Which I suppose is as intended, a multitarget silence would be quite overpowered.

Well it used to silence/interrupt all 3 targets before MoP.

Hasn't it silenced through all of Cata?

I remember casting it on a pack of 2-3 casters in cata and all 3 coming to the tank on the initial pull. Not just the primary target, so it seems that it used to interupt or stop spell casting at least for a brief period of time when used. Now it doesn't, but to be honest I always felt it was a bit overpowered for 1 tank to be able to ranged pull casters as if they were melee.

IIRC they added it to Shield of the Templar (right name?) talent during WotLK, 3 sec silence on all targets, and it's been that way ever since.

Just started leveling my pally last night (got through the first couple of quests in Jade Forest while doing some mining) and I have to say I think I'm going to enjoy leveling as prot. I love being able to pull 4-5 groups of mobs and just aoeing them down while ending with full hp/mana. I'm sure the "rotation" I'm using isn't optimal for tanking a dungeon, but it certainly works well enough for solo questing.

Skye,
While you can do it as prot, I found it FAR FAR quicker as ret.
SoR up, SS up, Pull huge amounts, then just Spam HotR, Glyphed Exorcism and Glyphed Divine Storm.

If things get dicey, Swap to SoL, pop GoAK, Wings, and especially Holy Avenger and go to town.

Hammer of Wrath > Divine Storm > HotR > Divine Storm > Hammer of Wrath > Divine Storm > Exorcism > Divine storm is FUN.
Ellifain @ Khaz'Goroth does not approve of torture, save where there's experience/rep/loot involved.

Not having a ret spec, and not wanting to get used to it being "quicker" then getting disappointed when I go back to prot later, I'll live with what I have. It's still quicker (and more survivable) than multi-dotting with my spriest.
