True story:

Back in 2006 I heard about farming mats and was very confused, because I couldn't go and make a farm to make stuff. 6 years later, Blizzard puts The Tillers into the game and I now have my first crop of turnips and melons growing. I am feeling somewhat content

How long would too long be? It'd have to be pretty impressive for them to suspect botting.

I honestly dont know.
He wasnt banned while beeing logged in, he reached lvl 90 (from lvl 1) with 2days and some hours (dont remember anymore) But he did log out some time during that, but i guess its something like 24hours without a single logout session.
He then got banned a day after reaching lvl 90, 3day ban, altho it got lifted after he contacted them.

Couple of days while I was still 88 a friend called me to help him in dread wastes, I was questing on Kofa Peek, got on the glider and went straight over the steppes into the wastes, quite impressive.

Back in Wrath, I took a running start (with a ground mount) off the top of the pillars at the Temple of Storms in the Stormpeaks, and levitated my priest all the way to Wyrmrest Temple. ^^
