LGBT rights discussion

Postby Skye1013 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:33 pm

As this thread has grown from a PYF tangent, I suppose a slightly better intro for anyone new to it would be nice.

The title pretty much says it all, but here we be discussing LGBT topics. If you have anything to contribute, feel free, but please don't resort to bashing (keep it civil!)

Original post: In the interest of attempting to pull this discussion out of the frustrations thread (because I really hadn't intended for it to spiral out like that... was just posting an article I had read and was frustrated with...)

Meanwhile:

Fast food chain Chick-Fil-A has been accused of being anti-gay for supporting organizations such as Focus on the Family, which oppose gay marriage.

Company president Dan Cathy said this week that his company is “guilty as charged.”

In an interview with the Baptist Press, Cathy said Chick-Fil-A is “very much supportive of the family - the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

Trying to find out if that's a legit pic/quote, and ran across this: http://terribleminds.com/ramble/2011/06 ... sexuality/

It actually expresses a lot of my current thought process with how to "deal" with the Chick-fil-A thing. Do I boycott them or ignore their policy and continue eating delicious chicken...

Like the article says, all the money you spend there could potentially be used as fuel against things you actively support. Seems kind of counter-productive to be pro gay rights, but still buy your meals at a hate-mongering fast food joint.

LOL - as a sidenote, Toronto's gay village resides on Church Street. The irony never ceases to amuse me.

It's not about the chicken so much as the waffle fries and lemonade. And at the moment, I don't even have the option to buy their food, so it's kind of moot. Here's hoping they change their views, but for now I'll just have to savor the memories.

In order of fry deliciousness:

Arby's (though curly fries are really their own beast, so may not be fair for this list)
Chick-fil-A
Wendy's (might be biased from having worked there allowing me to get them fresh)
Whataburger
McD's
BK

Everything below Chick-fil-A has to have their fries eaten immediately, because the colder they get, the shittier they taste. Curly fries are still ok at room temp.

That list is a lie if it doesnt include DQ's fries -- also, Whataburger should be higher on the list, considering how tasty their ketchup is.

No one standing up for Jack in the crack fries?

I love their curly fries, (Side note, their mozzarella sticks are amazing.)

Back to the topic, I'm getting tired of hearing about LBGT's lately, everyone seems to be against them or somehow offended, and I'm starting to get tired of having to explain to them that they're stupid for wanting to obstruct someone's happiness just because they're different.
Or my favorite, god says it's evil.

that one just gets me on an anti-religion rant though.

I hope LBGT's get the rights they deserve soon.
