To be fair, 100% of all people who eat before exercising will die.

Second morning run completed. Gets easier every time. Planning to run Monday/Wednesday/Friday mornings for the rest of the summer, temperatures permitting.

Re: Fitness and being Healthy
Finally made it back to the gym after a ~3 week hiatus on wednesday, Between being sick and spending a week doing hard physical labor, I lost ~10 lbs in a 3 week period, I need to start eating more...
On a completely unrelated note, by body is weird when it comes to caffeine. I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night, and I drank a cup of coffee this morning after waking up (~150mg of caffeine) had a piece of Stay Alert gum (100mg caffeine) on the way to work, and a double esspresso after arriving (another ~150mg of caffeine) all within a 2 hour period.
Most people start to feel overdose symptoms at ~300-500mg according to teh internets, yet my heart rate hadn't risen noticeably, I wasn't feeling hyper or jittery, nor was I shaking at all.
At the same time, on days when I don't drink any coffee, I don't feel any withdrawal.
This makes me mildly confused.

Teh Internets is wrong on that one, methinks. You'd be feeling "overdose" symptoms at 2 cups of strong coffee, if that were the case.

I think the internet is actually correct on that one. The full line (if he got the info where I think he did) is:
"Generally a dose between 300-500mg could produce some of the above mild to moderate symptoms, especially in those with no tolerance."
I could see 300mg causing mild overdose symptoms in someone with no tolerance, especially when they list one of the 'symptoms' as jitters.

especially in those with no tolerance.
I'd imagine that's the key right there. If someone was relatively new to caffeine, 300-500mg COULD likely be the start of overdose symptoms. Though for most people, we're innundated with caffeine on a regular basis, so we're either accustomed to the symptoms (therefore not realizing they're happening) or our bodies have adjusted to not show those symptoms until higher levels.
Of course... how often do you shotgun two cups of coffee? I can't say I'm well versed in the subject (since I don't drink coffee) but don't people usually spread a cup of coffee over a .5-1 hour period?

For me, a cup of coffee usually lasts somewhere between 5 and 15 minutes.

Do you then immediately get a second cup, and also down that in another 5-15 min?

This seems appropriate.

Re: Fitness and being Healthy
Taking restaurants as an example, the coffee served is bottomless, so generally your cup is refilled before you're finished with it. But yeah, somewhere around 5-10 minutes is about average for a cup. I've never seen anyone take more than 15 minutes to finish a fresh cuppa joe.
I read that site, and I'm pretty honestly confused as to which of the listed symptoms are intended and which are just side effects, but it still sounds fishy for the average adult to experience an overdose of caffeine from two cups of coffee.

I find this is mostly true... except at the office. At the office it can take me anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to drink a cup. And I like it that way - Feels more leisurely than pouring a scalding hot coffee down my throat as I'm trying to do my makeup and get out the door for work in the mornings!

For me it's actually the opposite. Since I can't bring my coffee into the lab, I sneak out and pound it down in as few gulps as possible so I can run back to the instruments
.

Nikachelle, are you talking about the standard coffee mug sized cup, or one of the coffeehouse cups? One 12oz "tall" coffee from a coffee shop is just shy of 2 standard coffee mugs (7oz each), so that's just about 300mg of caffeine right there.
firstamendme, same here. At our station, we spike our 24oz travel mugs with a 5hr energy shot and guzzle it down with 2 No-Doz as a chaser (right around 1000mg of caffeine, heh).
