Re: MoP Mastery Discussion
I know most people are busy playing Diablo (as am I) but here is the latest build's changes regarding protection paladins:
Quite frankly, I have no clue what MMO-Champ dug up with these numbers, and what they are saying were the previous values, but there it is.
Back to smashing faces on my barbarian. And by smashing faces, I mean cowardly running away while my CDs come back up, then hitting some stuff with my dagger (sigh) for a few seconds before running away again.

Re: MoP Mastery Discussion
It just means they nerfed the scaling to 1% per Mastery (since base Mastery is 8.).

I'm more happy about the fact that mastery now affects DR, in addition to BOG and block chance - they'll tweak numbers before they release (raid haven't even been tested yet)... so I'm not too worried about only getting 1% per mastery atm, especially since that means we may get pretty sizable DR boosts for SOTR.

Re: MoP Mastery Discussion
It affecting damage reduction has been intended for a while now, just not implemented; that is pretty much just a tooltip clarity change (instead of saying its "effectiveness").

Re: MoP Mastery Discussion
1% damage reduction on SotR per point of mastery is a lot more reasonable, and might still be too high. Remember that baseline raidbuffed Mastery is 13, even without a single point on gear, so as it stands we're looking at 43% DR on SotR, realistically at least 50% even in starter gear. That's pretty sizeable.

it being implemented is what I am referring to - it being intended didn't mean much prior to that.

Just FYI, calculations based on the new SotR mechanics are up on my blog (if the link doesn't work yet, it should in ~20 minutes).

I guess that's why divine protection is mostly magic damage unless glyphed.
I still feel warriors might be ahead with their shield barrier though.

The glyph change is sort of logical. It's more useful for ret/holy as a magic damage reduction skill. We're the only ones who frequently want it in its (current) unglyphed form.

It's exactly the same as on live, only the glyph is reversed.
That is what i meant. Mop dp is magic unless glyphed.

Shield barrier is stronger than WoG - as it should be. Ability to ability comparisons aren't really all that useful, though, unless you can establish that the rest of the kit is well balanced in the absence of those abilities. Balance depends on the complete toolset.
EDIT: What I meant to say is, can you support that assertion with further reasoning?
