Oh, it's been stated multiple times that the SPESS MAHREENs aren't lore-balanced, but gameplay-balanced.
There was something like "Lore space marine" in a White Dwarf, which costed something like 120pt.

Movie Marines in, I believe, WD # 300? Somewhere around there.
That's the most embarrassing loss I've ever had playing the game. Someone in my gaming group decided to play them once, to "show me my place" (I'm really not that good, they were just that bad.)
End result? Movie Marines tabled me without losing a single model. STUNT DOUBLES ARGH!
Bell of Lost Souls updated the rules to 5ed, and toned them down some: http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2009/12/ ... in-5e.html
Still ridiculous but WAY less so than the original WD article. Here's the original article from WD 300 (UK & AUS WD 301).

Nobody here games, so my minis are just sitting around gathering dust.

Re: The Plastic Army Guy Thread (40k and other TT Games)
Has anyone had a chance to play around with 6ed rules yet? If they don't completely suck balls (I've heard reviews either ranting or raving about them, but nobody really seems to be "meh" on the subject), I might consider keeping my armies. Otherwise I'm probably going to sell them - I've got about 14k points worth of Blood Angels and somewhere in the neighborhood of 8k worth of Orks.
The rest of my armies went to fund various other assorted projects, like my new baby (Barrett M82A1 with a 12x40 scope - for when I want to go deer hunting in California... while remaining comfortably in my back yard here in Arizona).

If you're into miniatures this really is the most ridiculous value ever.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/151 ... gaming-min
At current the $100 pledge (vampire) gets you over *200* polymer figures (incl. something like 140+ unique ones and even a couple of giants!), works out at about $0.50 per figure currently for around $500+ worth at MSRP.
Better still, you can swap out the metal succubus if you don't want it once the Kickstarter is over and instead get $25 of other figures instead at no extra cost. They're well past their funding atm so it's going ahead for sure, at the current rate there should be another 3-4 stretch goals unlocked as well which means it'll be goodness knows how many figures by the end.
There are some really good videos on how well the figures hold up and how easy they are to paint on the Reaper forums (including people testing painted versions for cracking, etc by bending limbs and so on and the figures and paint hold up exceptionally well).
Figured someone might be interested before it ends
Of note I obviously have a vested interest in this as the more people who join in the more I & everyone else gets, but in all honesty even if I couldn't afford to join in I'd still recommend it, it seems like an awesome deal I'd hate people to miss.
