Pandaren Models

I think everyone was impressed when they saw how detailed the Pandaren models were going to be. I know screen-shots like this...:


...certianly awed me with the detail they'd managed to squeeze out of what is now an antiquated game engine.

After seeing these early images i was almost certain Blizzard would have to update the older race models so as to not have to large a disparity between races.

Unfortunately they haven't been able to accomplish that so far (unlikely for MoP release), hopefully we'll see it at a later time.

However it wasn't until i saw Panda's in game that i realized just HOW much better they looked. Not only are they higher def/more ploygons but you can clearly tell that their skeletons etc are much more detailed. They look simply incredible when moving/casting/fighting in comparison to the old races.

My female human mage seems to somehow gallop along on two blocks of wood (feet). It almost makes me feel slightly ill watching it. Then you see this:

I'm just a bit miffed that i won't be able to race change my Paladin to a Pandaren.

Tauren need some love, their eyes look like they are stuck on as an afterthought and their manes are terrible.

Yeah but they didn't actually say any of this work would go into MoP. In fact I am pretty sure they said it wouldn't.

though, seeing the female panda, i think it was based on the female dwarf model, so they got updated first
i doubt we will see them until the xpack after mop
esp since we are getting a new class AND a new race

Hopefully they'll introduce the dwarf updates when they are ready. Otherwise might need to change to a panda or a space-goat.

if they do, they will nerf the shit out of BM and hunters in general as balance

Just because new race models miss the expansion event does not mean they won't happen in this expansion at all. I think it is quite reasonable for them to come with 5.1 or 5.2 at the latest. It is also possible for them to roll out new models in batch mode: give us a few in 5.1 and more with each new tier.

If Dwarves could be ready for the expansion event, and if they typically run 5-6 months or so per tier like thay have usually, then 2-4 races per tier is more than reasonable.

I have decided that I will definitely play for a while in Pandaclysm, and I will definitely roll a Monk, it will probably be a Panda. I still have hopes for the other races though, and I have no plans to swap my Holy Pally for the Monk as my main.
