Enough about entanglement, more about sending data back in time with neutrinos.

My money is still on "unidentified systematic error."

In October, they will run the experiment again, creating a black hole, and....

and send the results back in time to us? :P

That's my real problem with time travel. If it ever gets discovered, we'd probably have heard about it already. :D

What if it is because of course-correction and we're not supposed to find it yet? I mean, seriously, a bagel dropped by a bird at exactly the spot that it would cause damage to the LHC?

Who's to say that because time travel backwards seems impossible that time travel forwards is too?

From what I gather, that's theoretically possible by getting close enough to the Event Horizon of a Black Hole without crossing it. It's technically more effective to actually get closer to the black hole, but once you cross the event horizon, the matter is getting out of the black hole.

Remember, just going faster already reduces your time compared to an static observer

I doubt anyone has problems with going forward, if by forward you mean 'faster' and not 'istantaneously'
And of course, there's no going back.

Baby steps.

Also, remember, the true genius is not the one that created the wheel, but rather, the one that came up with the axle =P

It appears that a poor connection between pieces of equipment was probably responsible for the alleged superluminal measurements: http://news.sciencemag.org/scienceinsid ... Rc.twitter

Not terribly surprising, of course--the odds that this was actually true were very small--but it is still nice to have the error identified.

So they could've solved this by calling their IT at the start.

"Is your keyboard plugged in?"
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

How dissapointingly prosaic. I was hoping the nature of the error would be somewhat less basic.
