Random movie thoughts...
So, you know that new-ice-age movie from a few years ago, where the greenhouse gasses cause the mega-storms that freeze half the earth in a new ice age? Can't remember the name of it, but...
At the end of the movie, the astronauts in the International Space Station wax poetically about how beautiful the earth is with all the new twinking ice.
Was thinking about that this morning, and realized that those astronauts were so screwed. All the support facilities to send them food, monitor the station, manage a return trip in the escape capsule, were all frozen under 200 ft or more of ice and snow, not to mention the staffs would be scattered to central america, africa, or were frozen solid.
Basically, they were dead men floating.

Rewatched the American Pie series (first 3 anyway) and something I've always pondered... in American Wedding, when he's shaving his pubes in the bathroom of his hotel room... why did he toss the pubes out the window? Was there something wrong with the toilet/trash can/sink (probably a last resort, but still seems like a better idea than the window)?

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but from what I remember, the worst of the snow/ice was in the northern parts of the country, I remember a scene where U.S. citizens were 'jumping the fence' into mexico, where there was only a light dusting of snow, so cape Canaveral and Houston probably weren't hit too hard

Seems an approriate thread.
Why the fuck do I need to spend time and money to watch bluray on PC? Seriously. You need a drive, disc, and special fucking program to watch a bluray! /end rant
Yay isohunt, and buying the anime bluray/dvd combo packs. Love Spice and wolf, just got season 2.

Same here, but from what I remember them showing at the end, even Florida looked pretty well frozen over. Even if they were not, I doubt the staff would be there to facilitate a return, and the russian cargo vessel that is used as an escape pod would certainly be out of the question, since it's programmed to reenter over russian territory.
Of course, only the land masses were frozen over, with the oceans nice and clear.. doh!

I watched Dune today. I want my two hours and six minutes back so hard. It's like somebody signed a movie deal, casted the film, paid for it in full, then read the book and went "well shit, how am I going to make a movie out of this?"
Amazing book, though. Blew anything I'd ever read before out of the water.

Coming to America is one of the most underrated comedies in cinema.
Just the comedeic timing alone in that movie is amazing

Not sure if this is quite the right place to post this, but I am really starting to dislike George Lucas.

Damn you, I still had some productive work to be done today.

I'm not a big Lucas (the person) fan either, but I can't argue with him fighting for his trademarks. Just because the dude was the one who designed the original doesn't give him the rights to claim it as "his" - especially when he designed them as part of a job for someone else, basically selling the rights to it. No matter who designed the original stormtrooper costume, the rights belong solely to Lucas. He gets to decide who makes a profit off of the design, not anyone else.
