So there's the official trailer, if you haven't seen it yet. Promising. They haven't made Bane out to be mindless, which is excellent. It's got the 1% occupy relevance, which could go either way but will certainly help sales.
Also, don't click the "trailer cats" link, it's reallllly stupid. It's just the same poorly photoshopped cat face on every actor in a trailer.

Re: Dark Knight Rises
The most unbelievable thing in that trailer is showing Hines Ward with breakaway speed.
I never thought of Bane as being a manipulative genius/bastard but apparently that is how he was when introduced, it is mostly his post Knightfall portrayals that demote him to just being dumb muscle.

We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

Why does this trailer for a Batman movie only have Batman in it for like 5 seconds?

Because Nolan's Batman has never really been about Batman.

Tell me about it, they should have showed him knocking opposing players like Ed Reed unconscious.
I was in Pittsburgh this summer when they were filming and caught a couple of action scenes, it was all machinery though (and fake snow), no visible actors at the time.

Because he's the hero that the trailer deserves, but not the one that it needs right now.

Re: Dark Knight Rises
A tad disappointed we don't get hulking brute Bane but interested to see how criminal mastermind Bane works out.
Could be a good character change.
On a sidenote I have a friend that idolizes the Joker from Dark Knight (I don't get it either)

ITT: Lightbeard not understanding deeper, darker characterisation.

I was going to make some sort of comment on how this could be easily deduced of anyone with a professional wrestling signature, but his current one includes the word "gnarly" so I really can't hold too much against it.

Here's how it works out.
Bane becomes king of the prison he was raised in and breaks out. He travels to Gotham to confront Batman. Instead of doing it directly with Batman at full strength Bane frees the prisoners of Arkham making Batman expend all of his energy capturing them. Meanwhile Bane is studying Batman and finds out who he is. Bane confronts Batman at his weakest most vulnerable time and breaks him.
Criminal Mastermind Bane is the original Bane from the comics.

Re: Dark Knight Rises
Having criminal mastermind Bane in the last movie of the trilogy (with Nolan explicitly saying things like "this is the end of the dark knight story") makes me wonder if the ending to the movie isn't already spoiled for me.
I hope it's not!
