I have not read the whole of this thread, but I noticed that in Rawr, the main protection spec ("crusade") does not put points in vindication. It's not clear from the in game description, but reading this forum, I thought vindication was a must have tankadin talent - setting a targetted mob's AP to zero and so reducing damage from most bosses by around 15-20%? Based on the discussions in the talents sub-forum, I think Rawr's "crusade" spec should put points in this and in pursuit of justice, instead of conviction. Conviction could perhaps be a rival spec, with no points in crusade.

Rawr 2.3.8 also does not recognise the blood draining weapon enchant, which seems to be what some notable tankadin gurus (Digren, Honorshammer) have picked as providing something close to effective health.

I'm having a issue with the Rawr.ProtPaladin module in that it tells me to do nothing but socket some very strange gemming - Pure agi, Pure defense (at 570 defense to boot!), and pure Dodge in the default settings. I've even had it try to sneak some /crit hybrid gems in there. On any setting available, it will not show Solid gems, instead just hybrid gems or the aforementioned hybrids. In fact the latest version I don't have any Solid gems showing up for gear in the default, but half of it is pure Dodge or pure Agi.

With the new season, it would be good to include the wrathfu and the new titan forged PvP gear in Rawr.ProtPaladin. Also, the libram of valiance does not seem to be modelled - presumably it affects threat, damage and mitigation.

BTW, is there a way to "equip" an enchant like you can a potential new item of gear? I can't seem to find it and am stuck with my current enchants.

if you look just under the icon for each piece of equipped gear there is a tab that you can click on to equip different item enchants.

Im just using the standard rawr atm and have the Threat scale set to 0 and the midigation scale set to .64 and so far it looks like it is gemming and choosing gear relatively correctly.

Is someone still actively maintaining Rawr.ProtPaladin? I figured I would ask here first, in case solieu and/or Neganur have quit working on the project.

If so, I'd be interested in talking with one or both of you briefly about the threat model. In skimming through it, I found a significant error regarding seal procs.

In addition, I'd like to discuss a potential collaboration to try and synchronize the model I'm maintaining in my MATLAB code to the one that Rawr uses, which would potentially keep Rawr's threat model more up-to-date.

Just downloaded RAWR 21; I am not sure that anything relevant has changed but I was happy to note that I could configure it to quite closely match the "received wisdom" of this site - i.e. favouring effective health. I set threat weight to 0; mitigation to 0.7 and surival cap to Lich King 10. Switching on improved devotion aura and sanctuary buffs was also important. It then agreed with all my gem and enchant choices - previously, it tended to like stamina/agility gems. It does still have a peculiar fondness for the corpse tongue coin, but nothing is perfect.

It would be good if it could take on board Theck's work on threat though.

will this module be updated again since the new rawr 4.0 one seems to be outdated?

things i noticed that maybe could be fixed easily:

- gemming templates and enchants still value agi as mitigation
- mastery gems are not included
- parry/dodge seem to be valued higher than mastery at 0,0 threat scale and 1,0 mitigation scale

the "Upgrade list" i created suggests DPS T-Items to be better than our T-Items.

these are just some things i came across after the first 10 minutes of testing the new rawr.

maybe someone could fix our module i'd very much like to use Rawr since it's all new and shiny now :)

Anybody know if ProtPaladin is being worked on again for 4.2?
I'm mostly concerned about the 4.2 changes to Holy Shield specifically. I'd like to optimize my upgrade path and Rawr did a fantastic job of that in Wotlk for Ret.
