Varying Levels of Love for WoW
I've been out of the game for about 2 or 3 months now. But the desire to play is creeping up on me now. I'm sure after playing for a couple of months, I'll have my "fix" and want to get out of playing again. Right now, WoW sounds fun. What about you guys? What is your level of "commitment"?

I play as I feel the need to play. No obsession it's a distraction, nothing more.
As it should be.
As it should be.

I log in to troll trade chat every couple of weeks. I haven't been doing much of anything since Cata hit.

Me neither. I have done some low level PVP on alts and a few heroics on Bara.

Re: Varying Levels of Love for WoW
I haven't logged in for over a year. It had become an unhealthy obsession and I am glad to be rid of it. I think I peaked in enjoyment in Sunwell, and since then it felt like a pointless grind so I didn't let my guild friends down. The LFG changes really brought that home to me when I was playing with 4 strangers who didn't say a single thing running through heroics I could solo just to get some badges for better gear. And I had to do it every day.
I wish someone would make a game which was like TF2, but WoW raids. Pick a class, choose your loadout, then all go try to kill a boss! No loot grinding, no in-game money, no leveling up. Just fun!

Re: Varying Levels of Love for WoW
It's sad to admit that I have recently been getting more enjoyment out of my click-fest Diablo 2 online characters...
When I play WoW now it's only for 1 of 3 things.
1) Raking in gold and stock-piling it for absolutely no reason.
2) PVP'ing "Like a BOSS" and destroying everything (that's not a DK).
3) On rare occasions when my girlfriend plays WOW we level alts.

Raiding's pretty much the only thing stimulating me at the moment. I don't find my alts particularly entertaining, nor do I feel the need to keep them at their peak possible condition like I felt in Wrath.

Re: Varying Levels of Love for WoW
haha such an appropriate thread when I was just starting to miss playing. I find that I mostly miss tanking, smacking things in the face with a shield, pretending to be Captain America with AS, and charging around on my Warrior. Even though WoW isn't the most graphically advanced game I do miss the art style that Blizz uses (and the giant shoulder graphics of course). Then I think about all the idiots that I have to put up with in randoms and pugs as well as all the time that I'd have to sink into getting items that I want and remember why I stopped playing.
I'm really disappointed that Diablo3 isn't going to have a Paladin because I was really looking forward to being able to play a paladin again without having to return to an MMO. I've tried a few other games with Paladins but none of them seem to have the same flavor. While I have fond memories of the game, it's very hard to do what you want in it without investing a considerable amount of time unless you're very lucky and have a capable and drama free guild.

If that's true, then Invis is slacking off like WHOA.

Hung up the spurs in March after hitting the progression wall of being able to carry bads in 10m raids. I figure a five year run with the game was good enough, don't miss the game so much as my guildmates, but now we all play LoL, so 'sall good

Re: Varying Levels of Love for WoW
In late wrath, I decided it was time to quit when I couldn't even play the game without hulu or a movie open in a window while I played.
I do miss raiding, but not the other time commitments, and slamming my face against content that my guild couldn't surpass.

Re: Varying Levels of Love for WoW
I've always enjoyed leveling. Like, starting a lv 1, grabbing some friends together, and actually going adventuring. As it is right now, that NEVER happens. The only time people get together is for raids. And my last few times, that just felt like work.
