Video Editing software
Hey all,
I know a lot of you are involved in either IT or have made WoW related videos.
I am looking for pretty easy to use videoing making/editing software. I need the ability to:
- splice together different video segments shot at different times
- be able to do the "still picture motion" thing were you have a single still video and you zoom in and out of it and slide it around to make it appear to be semi-"video"
- Lay either separately recorded audio "tracks" over the video / motion still images or music tracks over them.
- Easy to use and able to write to widely available file formats.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers,

AKA Ken Burns Effect. I think it's pretty darn cool that in addition to all the amazing documentaries this guy has created, he also has an image technique that is named after him. Badass IMO.
I suppose if you had a mac that ran iMovie, you wouldn't be asking, so I think Windows Movie Maker is a decent PC alternative.

WMM is an alternative, not a decent alternative
You can get hold of Sony Vegas fairly cheaply which is a much more extensive tool.

Buy a Mac, get iMovie.
Not sure what you would use on the PC. If you are doing WoW movies the Mac client is really good for that.

Not doing WoW movies. Doing movies for our church. Our normal video editor/maker is deploying and the requested workload was already overtasking his volunteer time.

Here's a second for Sony Vegas. I use it for all my WoW movies, and it is quite amazing.

I was pleasantly surprised: non-pro versions are actually affordable!? WTF!? I'll have to look at those, now. For $50, you get the baseline version, and for $100 you get that plus extra support for making DVDs and stuff. Sounds like a pretty solid buy. I was expecting it to be $400 software or some crap.

Blender is a 3d animation software, but it does have a fairly robust video editor built in. Not sure how well it will fulfill your needs, but it's free.

You can use Freemake if you need to convert between different formats, and it's quite awesome.
