One of the gifts that I got for my birthday was an Ipad.

So far, I've only installed one app on it: a program that runs classic Z-machine Interactive Fiction games.
And if the size of my IF collection is of any indication, that's also the only app I'll ever need.

speaking of which, anyone know any good (and pretty recently updated) sites for homebrew'ing your PSP? I've been thinking about getting the Xperia Play for the console emulators, but not sure if I could live without my keyboard (I have a Droid). But then it occurred to me that I could install emulators on my PSP, but I can't find any sources that are current. Most of them were last updated in '08 or '09.

Oh man. Megaman Legends. Legends 2 was better in all possible ways than Legends 1. Definitely go find it.

I now feel old that this one's been mentioned as an old school game. One of my all time favorites.

I still have a shrinkwrapped copy of this for the PS that I still haven't gotten around to playing.

Mcduffie, if you are just looking for a great time sink that doesn't require an amazing machine I would recommend Hearts of Iron II.

Think risk w/o random dice and in WWII, that's how I spent my last deployment. The game was cheap 4 years ago and has so much depth you will spend just as much time reading about it as playing it.

However, if you are looking for awesome console action, get a PS1 emulator and play Castlevania Symphony of the Night (Best game evar imo).

I definitely recommend Megaman Legends (or for Nintendo fans, Megaman 64) and its sequel. Even if the major straight of the game is to run around the enemy in a circle jumping randomly and shooting continuously, it's still hella fun.

Also, maybe not too old yet, but my favorite fighting game of all time, Urban Reign for the PS2, is definitely one of my go-to's.

Legend of Dragoon was an amazing game, but I doubt it's aged well (at least, graphically - it's the same level of graphics, roughly, as FF7) compared to some of the 16 bit games.

Look into Valkyrie Profile 2 - Silmeria on the PS2. That's a game that was not only amazing story-wise, but graphically it was STUNNING. I just wish my PS3 had backwards compatibility with PS2 games so that I could play it again today.

Old school Zelda was amazing..

one of the games that HOOKED me was a Game Boy game that I can't remember the name and it's driving me NUTS..

It was a game with a play through similer to "Final Fantasy/Pokémon"
like most games your a younger boy and the story takes place in a giant tree and the surrounding area.. Your about to either capture or tame different creatures and use them to fight for you, usually you fought 2 or 3 enemies and they ranged from evil woodland creatures to some zombie like things, as per normal you had to defeat some evil mumbo jumbo to save everyone... Vague description of ALOT of games.. but maybe someone will remember it.
