Thoooooor! ~~~
So excited, seeing this tonight. Don't care if it's good or not, because it's motherfucking Thor. (But at the same time it kind of saddens me that I am more excited about Thor than I was about Batman)

Yup.
You're going to see a comic book superhero action movie. Don't go in there expecting great plot, acting, script writing, or even strict adherence to the comic book canon.
If you wind up with something like Dark Knight, which pretty much had all of those things, then you will be pleasantly surprised. If it doesn't have all that stuff then hey, at least you got to see [Insert Superhero here] kicking ass and sweet explosions and stuff.

From advanced reviews by comic book geeks, I'm pretty sure it's going to have a lot of those. It's true enough to the canon that one reviewer who's a big Thor fan loved it.
I know some pics I saw today of the Warriors Three look right friggin' on. And Sif ... sigh.

If my wife is allowed to see this movie, she'll be like, "Honey, your WoW permissions are revoked. TO THE GYM!".
(That'd probably be a good thing, to be honest.)
Agreed on the comic book action movie, though. It's like, going to see Avatar and expecting to see Dances with Smurfs, and not caring.

Yup, lower expectation should me mandatory for any movie...
After seeing it, i didn't think:
"I didn't like it because it was bad"
it was more a:
"I didn't like it because it could much much better"
So my advice is:
Go see it, just don't expect it to be anywere near Dark Knight.

My suspicion is that, since Iron Man, the people involved are looking primarily to build into an Avengers movie. So, basically, they're looking at these movies as prequels to the "real" movie. Sadly, I suspect they'll push the bigger names (Thor, Hulk, Cap, Iron Man), and leave out the less widely known members from having their own introductory movie (except by cameo, a la Black Widow).
It also doesn't help that Thor suffers from the same issue I think Superman does, but lacks the iconic status: Difficult to relate to.

scenes in Jotunheim: epic.
Asgard did right by Jack Kirby.
I could watch a movie that was just Odin, if played by Anthony Hopkins.
Special effects were crazy good. Enjoyed the Destroyer parts.
My wife liked it better than Iron Man, which is saying a lot since she loves IM.
