It makes magic happen. The cake warms up and gets deep fried, so when you eat it you can't tell how low quality cake it is. Then the filling melts and partially absorbs in to the cake. It's great.
I can't say I care for the fried versions... of course, it's possible the one I had wasn't properly prepared... it basically just tasted like frying grease.
And bldavis... I like regular twinkies also.
Oh, today for "brunch" at the dining facility, I was dipping my bacon/sausage in maple syrup and people were looking at me funny...
WHY????
most places must broil their bacon or something, so it comes out stiffer then the plate
so the syrup just helps softens it.....
and add flavor
my favorite breakfast (if i ever had time to eat, much less cook something)
is bacon so it is still soft and chewy, pancakesm and fried eggs over medium
eat the eggs first, sop up the yolk with the pancakes and thenwipe up the excess syrup with the bacon

I don't really understand it either... when growing up, if we had pancakes/sausage/bacon/eggs/etc. There was going to be syrup on everything... I figured it was a normal thing, but the people I was with thought it was weird enough to comment about it.

Yeah that's kind of odd, didn't McDonald's have a breakfast sandwich where the "bread" was two pancakes stuffed with syrup?
I'm one of those who doesn't mix food very much and in general food different foods on my plate won't touch. In fact, we just had waffles and sausage links for breakfast, and I used a separate plate for my sausage so it wouldn't get syrup on it. My wife is the opposite though, so she dunks her sausage in the syrup like it's dip. I think you can even buy sausage that has maple syrup already on/in it.

Speaking of dipping foods, if you ever go to the Southeast and stop at a Taco Mac, order the chips and salsa and a pound of wings. I don't particularly like hot food, but the mixture of the salsa with the wings almost completely canceled out the spiciness. It was amazing.

Still is! and is still delicious. O.o I buy them once in awhile, take out the egg/sausage and make my own because mcdonalds sucks at everything but that damn delicious bread.

Fun Fact: If you order a cheeseburger without pickles you're technically ordering a dessert due to the sugar content of all the other ingredients. The reason pickles are placed on them is so they can put them on the dinner menu instead of being forced to put them on the dessert menu (At least this is the case in Australia).

That seems like an urban legend. An entire McDonald's cheeseburger has just 6g of sugar, 4 in the bun, 1 in the cheese and 2 in the ketchup. Now admittedly my quick search didn't give such details about their Australian version, but it did show that in Australia the total sugar is only 4.7g. ( http://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en/food/ful ... urger.html (US), http://mcdonalds.com.au/our-food/nutrition (AU))
By comparison, a simple cup of fat free milk (skim) contains twice as much sugar (12g) as the American version of their cheeseburger, and a cup of chopped carrots (varying by variety) has the same 6g of sugar.
McDonald's has unfairly become the poster boy for unhealthy food. While they don't have a whole lot of great options, and I certainly wouldn't classify that bulk of their menu as "healthy", they aren't even close to as bad as most restaurants. For that matter, most of the worst offenders in the US are not fast food places at all. The two worst items they consistently serve, french fries and soda, are available just about anywhere, and the latter has the same content (in theory) at every other location.
EDIT: I was poking around snopes and found something interesting. Apparently McDonald's uses a fairly high standard of leaness for their beef, which has caused supply issues because a lot of beef does not meet their standard. Ironically outside of the US, McDonald's uses primarily grass fed beef from Australia and New Zealand.

You've never had good beer then, I assume?
Of course not, there's no such thing!
Alcohol just tastes terrible. I was able to tolerate Woodchuck Cider but I just can't stand the taste of alcohol.

I'm not the biggest fan of the taste of alcohol either - but try some microbreweries. You'd be surprised at how un-beerlike beer can taste.
Also, if you tolerated Woodchuck Cider, you'd probably enjoy Strongbow Cider. It's amazing - ever had the faux champagne (sparkling grape juice) as a kid? If you have, you've tasted Strongbow. Oh, and it's one of the few brands/types of alcohol that's ever gotten me to the point of slobbering drunkenness. I have a relatively fond memory of taking the DC Metro while smashed out of my mind on that. I owed my friend a dry-cleaning after that ride home.

Way too many normal foods in this thread. To qualify as "an acquired taste" it should be at least slightly unusual.
My contribution: Peanut butter and syrup on pancakes/waffles.
