Re: Maybe this one is REAL!
I have received quite a few emails about accounts of my gold trading. It seems strange, however, that Blizzard would email me to my address I use with WoW websites instead of the address linked to my account.

Yes, they're real. And they can cut glass.

Yipes, that's got to hurt.
Here's what I do to keep a reasonable way off the spam, in order of importance.
- Default: Scam. No e-mail is ever opened with the slightest intent of doing anything other than reading, and probably with cold sneer.
- Aliases: Some mail providers offer free aliases. Gmail for example links all dots as if they didn't exist(e.mail@gmail is the same receiver for email@gmail), while also letting you know in the mail body that the difference exists. Use an aliased e-mail as your wow account and filter it. Anything not going through that filter is an easy mark for spam.
- Don't use the same damn mail for everything: mailinator is your friend.

I've been(primarily) using the same email account for a few years now, and I never really started to get wow-related spam until the cata beta started. My account has been inactive for a few months now, and they've mostly ended, but I still get one every now and then.

Sometimes you can tell if they're not real. The best way is to make a tactile inspection.

im not so sure a "hands on" approach will help determine the validity of an email..
youll be able to tell if some other things

Brekkie:Tanks are like shitty DPS. And healers are like REALLY distracted DPS
Amirya:Why yes, your penis is longer than his because you hit 30k dps in the first 10 seconds. But guess what? That raid boss has a dick bigger than your ego.
Flex:I don't make mistakes. I execute carefully planned strategic group wipes.
Levie:(in /g) It's weird, I have a collar and I dont know where I got it from, Worgen are kinky!
Levie:Drunk Lev goes and does what he pleases just to annoy sober Lev.

My position on this matter is really quite firm.
When problems such as these are encountered it can really be a double hand-full.
It's a good thing there are plenty of options out there to provide support.

Thanks for keeping us abreast of the situation.

Re: Maybe this one is REAL!
My e-mail inbox has 404 new messages since I checked it last, and 182 in the spam folder. Of those 586 emails, scrolling through my inbox pages I estimate that 570 or more of them are junk.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with e-mail anymore. I only ever use my e-mail if I'm expecting one, and I don't check it just "to see if anyone sent me one" except for once in a blue moon.

Re: Maybe this one is REAL!
I get them every once in a while, usually pointing to a fake eu battle.net address. If I was actually in the eu it may take me an extra 50-100ms to find the extra 1 or something in the address....

A friend of mine, Piet van Hiel managed to convince a Nigerian scammer that he was a professor at the Miskatonic university named Randolph Carter. The emails are hilarious. I'll try and find the link.
