This is a great suggestion that I totally hadn't thought of. Thanks!

Meanwhile, the tundra mammoth is affordable if I drain all my alts of cash. I do, however, have Jeeves and the Argent Squire. Are those not sufficient?

a small army of Scrap bots should do nicely, its mostly due to how to empty your bags asap. Id keep the Squire etc for Bank and mail useage.

Oh and you raise a good new Tip. Be an engi.

Screw first 85... I'll be selling ore for 500G/stack as long as I can, and getting XP in the process. :-)

^That, except archaeology as first priority. Aiming for that realm first, if nothing else (Yes, I´ll give up after a week or so). Yay for being a dwarven paladin with aura mastery and a 310% mount. :)

I feel almost as guilty as when I spent my frosties on primordials at the start of t10. Almost.
I used to play a paladin.

Its expected to take like 8hours to level all the way, its not gonna be a hard time staying away all the way to 85.

8 hours? where the hell did you get THAT number?

Supposedly all new zones are heavily phased.

well Vashj'ir is but that doesn't really affect how many people will be killing your mobs

I really hope this is a typo. There's no way in hell it's only going to take even hardcore players 8 hours to hit the cap.

It takes about 24 hours, no idea where you might have heard otherwise.

Even the server first on Moonrunner slept once, I think everyone else who got racial firsts slept twice. It was about 30 hours 70-80 though, so the server first probably won't even sleep this time.

Actually I found in my times on the Beta that it was rather redundant to own a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth because it took as much time to mount up on it as it would to find a vendor next to a quest NPC. They're seriously everywhere.

While needed for leveling cooking, if one has cooking already leveled or doesnt care at this stage and simply wants a buff, Dalaran Clam Chowder is a much more affordable option.
I've banked plenty of these as I'm still doing dailies in Sholazar, will be definitely useful.

While I believe that Jeeves by itself should already be enough, consider that if you're questing you are costantly visiting hubs to return quests, hence you should have no need at all.

Doesnt change much if you plan on leveling through istancing, as all you have to do is stand next to a vendor and then start chaining istances.

Looking at forum posts it looks like the 80-85 grind should take 15-20 hours if you know what you're doing. I haven't levelled a char to max level on beta yet but if this is the case I'm going to transfer my priest across and do it once to get familiar with the zones.

I was intending on going for first Undead but now I'm going to have to compete with alliance for priest :(

15-20 hours?!

Surely Blizzard have realised by now most people are sick of questing by now? I can't even do dailies anymore, quests are so frustrating and dull. None of the promised major changes to questing struture have moved away from what is a very dated, basic and repetitive part of the game.

The most useful idea on this thread for me is the HoS heroic full pull. Like the Iron Dwarves in Howling Fjord I hope to be able to employ as many of these "degenerate" XP tips as possible. I'll deal with the lack of rep and gear at 85 and craft/buy what I can until I hit 85.

I think Blizzard are (too slowly) realising questing is well past it's sell-by-date (only 5 levels this time, XP from professions etc) but someone doesn't have the balls to make the questing dpt fully redundant yet.

Questing is the single best part of this game.
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

Have you done any questing on the beta? They're better than ever at quest flow, but the big change is the fact that you don't always need to return to NPCs for quests, instead you get a pop out window with the reward and often the next step in the chain.

If your problem is the actual quests themselves, I fail to see what they can do different, they offer a lot of variety already on what essentially boils down to an entire game built around killing mobs and colecting items.
I don't play WoW any more.

Each to their own of course, but amongst my guild/friends most people hate it by now after doing thousands of "kill/escort/capture 20 Xs" quests from level 1-80 x X alts. Most people I know play WoW for dungeons, raids and or PVP and see quests as a(n) (u)necessary evil.

Personally I'd have quit WoW if it wasn't for the Iron Dwarf trick in Howling Fjord (sadly now nerfed to keep the Questing Dpt in Blizz going).
