The one thing keeping me from feeling like it might be good is the fact that half the cast seem to be dressed like lingerie models, even in the mental institution scenes.

It really gives off an all style, no substance vibe.

Having just watched the trailer It looks good. Had not heard of it until now but will defiantly go see this at the movies.

Plot as far as I can make it out is something like: Girl loses family, no-one cares, gets locked up. Goes crazy. Gets committed to a mental institution. Along with other crazy people decides to break out. The attempt to escape occurs both in the real world and is echoed in her head and the worlds she creates. She needs certain items to escape, keys to unlock the doors, a map of the institution, etc and the majority of the film is her real world attempts to get these but played out as she see's it in her imagination.

Very, very probably all style and no substance but hell... with style like that I can happily munch popcorn and watch for a couple of hours brain candy.

Basically, this movie was him telling the studio "I'm going to make an action movie with ALL GIRLS. FIGHTING THINGS. WITH GUNS AND SWORDS. Because 300 was all guys with swords, so I want to mix things up."

And the studio went "We like money. Do it."

I'll be upset if there's no sexytime in it. But I'll still see it at least twice in theaters, if only because I like supporting movies (even bad ones) that are original ideas - not just "adapted from the hit book/comic book/tv series/etc".

I wouldn't expect anything quite oscar worthy. I'll be expecting an hour or so of mindless entertainment. Not every movie ever made has to be thought provoking or have some kind of underlying message. Sometimes I just want to sit there and be entertained, nothing more. This looks to be one of those movies.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to turn your brain off and watch Shit A Splode for an hour or two every now and then. Everyone seems to be a pseudo-intellectual when it comes to movies lately, and they've forgotten (or are at least pretending to forget) how much fun it is to watch what basically amounts to testosterone porn every now and then.
