Fire looks like a spreading ring and has a hole in it somewhere that the raid has to run through.

He shoots it at 5:50 off to the right side of the screen. Then the flame ring expands into view and you back through it at 5:58 and you can clearly see the 'ring' part at 6:00. It appears to expand to a particular size and then stay that size for 10 seconds, disappearing at 6:10. It looks like the 'opening' to the ring is always facing the center of the room.

You can't see the next ring expand because it's off screen, but you can clearly see the arc when you back through the opening at 6:30. That one seems to catch the adds on 'fire' and then the fire trails the adds.
