Re: 3.3 Frequently *Answered* Questions - Tankadin basics
Need a little advice here guys. I've not been able to raid with my guild for a while now because of a new baby. However, I still managed to get a decent tanking set (5800 gs). Now though, I want to run ICC10 HMs with the guild and I'm having trouble keeping aggro. The guild leader is a DK with the legendary axe and about 6800 gs. It seems no matter what target I'm on, he's able to pull off me. What can I do to up my threat?

Wear some hit & expertise. Macro "Salvation on GM" as one of your abilities. Stack hunters/rogues for threat transfer.
Regardless, you won't be able to generate more TPS than him, he'll just have to adjust.

You are not suppose to be able to keep aggro from someone like that, you can do your best but if he is doing what he should, he should pass you soon enough.
As Knaughty said, try some threat gear, slow weapon, dps libram, and if you have to, some retri parts.
If you got hunters/rogues they should obviously be helping you maintain threat as good as they can, usually i find a starting tricks/MD is enough to keep dpsers off my tail for a while, should they come close after that i got salv i can use on them.
They shouldnt really come up that high another time.
But if you do have rogues/hunters im guessing you wouldnt ask this question.
You can try having a frost DK star tanking building enough threat ^^
Or a powerboosted mage with mirror images can build threat for you aswell (While the mage is +130% of your threat and has mirror images out, when you taunt you will have his ammount of threat even if the boss never changed target)
Other than that you just have to work around it, the longer the fight goes, the more threat you obviously have.
Once the fight has been going on for a few min, even if he is at 95% of your threat, him pushing to actually overaggro is a LONG way to go. Just tell him to relax, take it easy and make sure he doesnt overaggro the first few sec, after that he should be good to go pretty brutal.
You dont go from 40% threat to overaggroing in a GCD if you chill the first few sec, after that it might be slowly growing but shouldnt catch you by suprise that you are slowly going to take aggro in that rate.

Hey,
I'm looking at the stickies and determining what to prune for Cataclysm.
Please advise if you want to...
a) Keep this thread, and update it for Cata,
b) Dump this thread and start a fresh one for Cata, or

Done. And thanks for putting in the work; I don't say that often enough.
