Fucking love that game.

Also; Dodgeball.

I was at the gym at McChord Air Force Base the other day, and some unit was in the basketball court playing Dodge-ball. I was super-jealous since I haven't played it in FOREVER.

Dodgeball is fun but it's hard to play outside.

Geocaching!

Depending on what exactly you mean with up in the mountains, i could imagine that there are a few Geocaches near you.

Its basically grown-up treasure hunting, using GPS devices (Cellphones with GPS work fine).
Sounds lame? It isnt! Technology + Outdoor = teh awesome.
Works nice in groups, too.

For a quick look, check here if caches are near you:

I've done this and its freaking awesome... without the tools or a place with a decent population of caches its not practical. For a large group I don't expect this to be too much fun.

it also depends on cache-type and location, i've done caches here in the Black forest where you just couldn't be enough people to search the area :D

but its true, big groups are not to be recommended.
how many youths do you have to care for?

I would think some kind of lake, or beach depending on you location, or any kind of state/federal park would work best. it allows you to have a verity of things to do. any kind of park like this would allow people to stay and go camping if they want. I like mountain biking so most parks have a bike trail. you should see if your boss wants "group games" or some other development kind of bullshit like that.

You could try shooting watermelons out of giant slingshots, that sounds like fun.
