beta build 12694 (8, 5 2010)

Holy

* Consecration now lasts 10 sec (down from 15 sec) and has a 30 sec cooldown.


Protection

* Devotion Aura is now trained at level 5. Down from level 6.
* Shield of the Templar now reduces the cooldown of Avenger's Shield by 2/4/6 sec. (Down from 3/7/10 sec)
* Holy Shield is now a Tier 4 talent, down from Tier 5. No longer deals damage for every attack blocked.
* Hammer of the Righteous now deals 398% weapon damage (up from 300%). Still jumps to 2 additional nearby targets, each jump reduces the damage by 50%.
* Shield of the Righteous is back - Slam the target with your shield, causing 3198 plus 100% of your attack power per stack of Holy Power as Holy damage and refreshing the duration of your Holy Shield.


Retribution

* Swift Retribution is gone.
* The Art of War is now a Tier 3 talent, down from Tier 4. Now increases the damage by 20/40/60% and critical strike damage by 30/60/100% of your Exorcism. Now has a 5/10/15% chance to proc from melee attacks.
* Communion additional effect - Your auras increase your party and raid's damage dealt by 3% and your damage by an additional 2%.
* Sanctity of Battle is gone.
* Rule of Law is now a 2 rank talents. Down from 3.



shield slam looks like its gonna hit like a truck, 3stack is 300% ap, NICE, 6sec CD though, might as well up it for a 15 sec CD which seems MEH waiting that long to use it, lol


hotr increased dmg, still 8 sec CD, thought they would make it do same dmg as CS and same CD, so guess this talents not fixed yet in this build, grand crusader talent i would assume needs to get hotr added into it, at a later date.


aah holy shield, no more dmg on block, dang, i went on beta, talent trees were borked for me, wouldnt let me learn past 19 in prot, so couldnt try out shield slam, CS tooltip says 100% wpn dmg, hotr says i think 380%ish, so, hmm what am i going to use on single target mobs? LOL


this new launcher is downloading very slowly for me, will get back with more tomorrow when its done and i wake up

Soo, at 100k HP with full vengeance tank has 10k AP from just vengeance alone, roughly as much from gear. At 3 HP stacks that means 20*3=60k shield slams. Inc pvp cries.


I won't spam here much but archangel for shadowpriests and 3s horror on nearby targets for 3s on VT dispel seem rather juicy :)

I'm not exactly sure why they decided to remove damage return from Holy Shield (further paladin AoE tanking nerf) and why Shield of Templar talent now reduced cooldown of AS by only 6 (instead of 10) seconds. Is that to make it better fit into our rotation?

I'm glad the shield is back but I'd really like to hear it from some beta testers on how we are in action with these changes - how is threat on multiple targets and how is it on single target (especially when moving the single target).

I think it should be 3x (rank two is 600000%,lol), is that spell worth casting with all these changes?
Holy Shield, ShoR, both consume holy power, is there even time and holypower for Glory?

Its a frequently reoccuring bug that the three dezimal places of procental values are misinterpreted in beta tooltips.
They actually mean 30.000% and 60.000% respectively.

(Might be because some languages interchange "." and "," as in sometimes 30,000 means 30000 and sometimes it means 30 depending on the settings you use.)

So i still see bears get 12% DR physical and 18% magical, Dks get 8% stance and 6% for blood rune being on cd (effectively 14%) and warriors at 10% while paladins are worse off now with none?

Think blizzard is missing a lot of memos on prot paladin lately and my faith in them is almost none existent at this point. Depending on how SoR ends up being implemented this could possibly be a step forwards but there's still lots to fix that it isn't getting there.

Used to have some DR in imp Righteous Fury, has it been baked in to RF base?

Paladins also got 10% DR for speccing protection. At the moment i wouldn't worry much about balancing, that will be done in later builds.

So atm is ShoR with a single HP King, I'll bet this is also going to change. Can someone check about Holy Shield, is it now a static 15% block or 5%/10%/15% like before? If the later, is my 15% block chance refreshed with 5% block when ShoR is used with only 1HP?

I only had time to try speccing once before I had to go to work, but it seems ShoR is broken at the moment. It's currently a talent in our tree, but when I learned it, I didn't gain the skill. Maybe it's just a bug for me, though, can anyone else confirm?

Remember, GC said that this build was not gonna contain all the changes he was planning for protection paladin -- this is just a glimpse but not the intended package.

If HS is 3000 damage plus HP x our attack power. I don't see the point of waiting for 3 stacks.

Mind if its 3000+ our attack power x HP, Well Fuck me, have fun good luck in PVP.

It's pretty obvious this is just a quick implementation. You can take a look at the other Holy Power using abilities to see that; none of the direct damage ones have their extra effectiveness from Holy Power scale linearly.

I expect ShoR to become more like:

1 Holy Power: 66% of AP
2 Holy Power: 150% of AP
3 Holy Power: 270% of AP

Edit: On a second thought, there's the possibility that ShoR will not consume HoPo. In that case, its current implementation would be best.
