digging for information on WOL

Postby Pyrena » Mon May 24, 2010 12:37 pm

Hello maintankadin-community,

I have some problems regarding on how to analyse combat-log parses.
Due to lack of information (or insufficient skills of using google properly) I would like to know how to answer following questions:

- Did I maintain my 969 rotation properly?
- Did I use my cooldowns at the right time?
- How much uptime did I get on divine plea?

Are there any other useful tricks or tipps on how to use WOL?
Here is a random log of my last ICC10 raid:

Thanks,

Will start with the easy questions first, looking at Festergut as he is stationary and its easy to check rotations on a fight such as that.

- How much uptime did I get on divine plea?

1) Select a fight from the drop down menu.
2) Select your character under players.
3) Click buffs gained.

For Festergut you had 100% uptime on Divine Plea. You also had 100% uptime on commanding shout and Beacon of light was up for 96.6%. Want to see when the BoL was on you? click the "#" and it will show you a graph, the buff being a green bar down the bottom.

- Did I use my cooldowns at the right time?

I find this pretty hard to check on logs TBH. If you stayed alive, we can only assume yes for most cases. Checking through a whole log would be immensely time consuming. Was there a fight in particular? Hindsight is a wonderful thing, if you die in a fight that doesn't require timed use of CDS and you have a CD, should you have used it?

- Did I maintain my 969 rotation properly

1) Select a fight from the drop down menu.
2) Select log browser (in the drop down menu to the left of bosses).
3) Next to "show all events" click remove.
4) Add query.
5) Type your name in source (case sensitive) and select "spell cast".
6) Click run query.

We now get to see everything that counts as a spell cast that you did in that fight. So we should be seeing your rotation now and how close to GCD you were.

The pull looks nice, HoR, AS then judge whilst moving into range. I don't see DP, meaning you did it before entering combat with him.

Running through the first minute of combat shows 96969 being done correctly, but how close to GCD are you? If you take the time between Consecrations you will get an idea of how close to GCD you are. Could do an average of the whole fight, but this breaks it down more.

Code: Select all
Log time       Diff    Av GCD
16:02:38.484   9.220   1.537
16:02:47.704   9.388   1.565
16:02:57.092   9.282   1.547
16:03:06.374   9.239   1.540
16:03:15.613

Which is decent. A lot of logs where people complain of low threat they are between 1.6-1.7.

I completely missed the Log Browser, that's a useful tool.
Thank you very much for your help.
