Is AM worthwhile for 10 man or can you get by without it? We finally unlocked him and I am considering ditching my ret spec for a gimmick prot AM spec if it's really that powerful for the infests.

I wouldn't worry about AM for infest in 10 man too much, while it is extremely powerful. I used my gimmick spec for 10 man but only used AM when one of the healers was grabbed.
AM is nice for soaking vile spirits though.
It's certainly not nearly as needed as in 25 man.

Thanks, in that case I think I will give it a miss for now.
I tank the spirits that spawn during phase transitions so it's probably best that I don't nerf my threat into the ground and we have no ret to keep up Vindication so that's too many compromises I'd have to make.

THE reason its "needed" in 25man is to bring one less healer. And the fact that you reasonably can rotate AMs for every Infest you can plan along it.
In 10man you realisticly dont have 5 pallys anyway, and have to deal with some infests without AM anyway, and if you can handle without, you certainly dont "need" AMs, Its very strong if your infesthealer gets picked up tho.
You dont have a Rogue/hunter/mage to help you build threat? nor a warrior/druid to keep vindication?
Or you could always care for the horrors, no point in threat there anyway.
AMs for frostmourne room is nice when your learning it atleast.
