Passive Uncrushability for Paladins
I've been pondering this as a gearing concept for a while based on the Warriors who have been attempting to do it and, on occasion, succeeding. It seems to me that this is a great safety net in gearing if we opt to go for it, especially when we're AoE tanking.
My main concern is if we can actually reach that level of avoidance without the 5% block talent that Warriors have. Obviously, it would be a heavy block rating gear set, but I'm not sure beyond that if it's even possible.
Any math heads feel like looking into it?

Adamantine Figurine
32 Defense Rating
Figurine of the Colossus
32 Block Rating
Crystalforged Sword
11 Block Rating
Totals:
294 Defense Rating
80 Dodge Rating
337 Block Rating
294/2.4 = 123 defense, plus 20 for Anticipation and 350 base, gives you 493 Defense
80/18.9 = 4.23% extra dodge
337/7.9 = 42.66% extra block
With that gear you would have...
10.72% to be missed
14.95% to dodge
15.72% to parry
53.38% to block
For a grand total of 94.77% avoidance/block. If we had an extra 5% in our talent trees someplace, and tweaked the gear a little, maybe we could make it...

Yes, but there is very little reason to do it.
Warriors do it so they can spend the rather large chunk of rage on threat instead of shield block.
A paladin will be using holy shield for threat regardless.
The only situation it will be useful is if you are tanking something that can crush that attacks fast enough to chew through holy shield.

That's not entirely the point of passive uncrushability. It's true that warriors gain extra rage and, most importantly, an extra GCD for going passively uncrushable. This gear setup is most useful, however, when you're tanking hard hitting AoE packs, which makes your block chance significantly more powerful, particularly with the new abundance of block value available to us. It would also be fairly humorous for soloing certain instances, but that's beside the point.
I wonder if swapping out the traditional Solid gems for Enduring or Thicks might help with this. Additionally, in the trinkets, swapping Adamantine Figurine for http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32501 (Shadowmoon Insignia). Also, in this case, Sun Eater is stronger than Crystalforged for what I'm trying to theoretically reach.
I've just been playing around with the concept a bit. I was wondering mostly if it was even possible without the 5% block talent.

Came up with a semi-realistic, and that's stretching realistic as I'd never use a 10 agi gem in my Faceplate, but putting one in my backup-shield wouldn't phase me at all, every gem has some form of avoidance on it, but most are either Agi/Stam or Def./Stam as you can't completely ignore stam in a set like this.
Add it all up, 102.72% Passive Avoidance/Mitigation.

Actually there's no reason for a Paladin to be Passive Uncrushable since we will anyway will be spamming Holy Shield for threat.
The only situation would be endless aoegrinding but well it's not like we need that...

Passive uncrushability doesn't matter for AoE tanking because mobs that you'd be AoE tanking don't crush. Sure you take less damage because you're blocking every hit, but unlike with bosses there's no inherent reason not to say, leave yourself a little crushable and pick up extra avoidance instead in an AoE situation.

Passive Uncrushability.
Well for any pally tank that has ever been silenced will gladly stat that passive uncrushability is a good idea sitting there for 2-6 seconds waiting madly clicking holy shield cause you just got caught at that wrong time. Sure you can proc trinkets to dodge abit or cross your fingers for redoubt (which is exactly what it's really good for) but if you don't have to, why bother.
Have a slight curiousity if gaining at least uncritable with a two hander works anywhere in the mix. Stack some parry, Dodge it up. Just an idea I've been playing with for regular instances don't think it could ever withstand raid content.
Hammer of Righteous Might is just too amusing of a weapon to not think about a parrydin a little bit.

CB immune, HP like a CB immune Warrior, Spelldamage for enough tps and a good pure avoidance.

Not quite, you're about 3.83% off.

Of course, well that means that my setup can add another 6-700hp or so, and socketing for agi > dodge means better raid buffed stats overall.
