Here's the vid, I stuck in some music to make it more interesting.

And yes, I know that my tanking in p3 was sloppy, but at least you can get a general idea of what went down. I was intermittently trying to stay alive while trying to keep my bladder under control. Further attempts (should my guild continue to let me try this this week as an INTENDED thing) will be much cleaner :D

Yeah, I actually paid closer attention to it this week and it's not nearly as bad as I'd originally noticed (though, I'm evidently still terrible at letting a GCD go toward anything but smashing more threat out). The soulscream timer is fairly reliable, it seems unless spites are going out he's almost always casting it right at 10-11 seconds. I think I just have to pay closer attention to the timer, and stop trying to push the envelope for threat. I don't know how many times I figured that I could get 50 rage down to something reasonable with one last shield slam... only to get dodged and be sitting on too much rage.

I still say p3 was designed to be tanked by a paladin, and I wish Aetherial the best of luck this week.

with patch 2.3, warriors can no longer switch from one stance to the same stance.

no more Defensive-->Defensive instant rage drop.

it now takes TWO Global Cooldowns, meaning the rage dump is only barely effective.
or alternatively....
....eat a scream in Battle Stance.


We suddenly got even MORE appealing for p3.

Using the new "cancelform" command warriors are still able to dump rage using a similar mechanic. I may end up tanking phase 3 anyway just because we want to see how it works out and if it worth brining me in for a fight I generally never come in for (we still have yet to have a neck drop so i'll let our MT get it first at least).

You are pretty valuable in phase 1 for tanking it until the first enrage. Stack block value.

We've done phase one for so long without stacking BV and have it down perfectly and get to phase 2 with only one enrage. While I am not arguing a paladin wtih high BV would be useful we don't have a desire to "relearn" the phase since we can't really beat a one enrage phase one with no deaths every week.

I mentioned it elsewhere, but last week (pre-2.3) I tanked RoS Phase 3 from 100%-0% on accident. Our healers weren't quite ready for the three crushes our MT took right out the gate so I jumped in just for the hell of it.

As Aetherial's video showcases, the damage intake is fairly steady and substantial so there was only a few times early on where I didn't have enough mana for HS->JoR->SoR and Consecrate. As the fight progressed I got more and more mana between Soul Screams so it was a bit easier for me... though the healers were really on the ball as well (the MT death woke them up, I suppose).

One thing I will note, however, was that Judge of Wisdom was not up for it - I judged Crusader and used Libram of Fervor for the fight. I only had a split-second to decide, but at the time the increased damage from JotC+Libram seemed the better idea. From what I could tell the 5% increase in damage seemed to take into account the extra from JotC, so that may have explained why our DPS could go full-bore all the way to the end.

I recommend Nightmare Seeds for the last 30 seconds of the fight, if only for the extra HP buffer you need going into the last stretch.

On our first kill last week I managed to tank p1 untill 1st enrage in spelldamage tanking gear so I was ready for p3 with it, had no threat problems in p3 (though I had to mana pot after the 2nd scream to get a good lead), and no health problems either, tho I was only 1 of 9 allive for the kill in the end, lol 5.2k HoW crit? :p


Ah, I also had a ret paladin in my group, which is awesomeness.

we killed him the other day with only 1 death, I wasn't there :( silly uni, hope to try some stuff out on it this reset :D.

I also tanked P3 with our guild's intent and the soul scream hit me for only like 1.5k. Mana wasn't ever an issue. It was rather easy.

For those of us that are tanking both P1 and P3...

Greater Ward of Shielding.

Lets you drop some block value for more spelldamage and avoidance to help out on EoA. Eternium bars are dirt-cheap on MR, and now that we've got this guy on farm, it's a nice safety device on the off chance that I need to tank the enrage for a bit.

Too much rage, too few shieldblocks, no ironshields maybe... 18k bursts are not common
