how do YOU tank koralon?

Frankly, WHERE you tank Koralon matters little. The only thing you need is space to either spin him around or step to the side, out of the fire. When I dps, I find it easier to see the fire debuff when he's just being rotated, because Warlocks' incinerate are rather similar and spread my attention enough that, if I have to move with him instead of just dodge fire, I may miss the bad fire for a second.

That's nice, and all, but you could at least be considerate enough to tank him somewhere where the flames are decently visible.

Are people nowadays running around with their debuff bars and DBM turned off?

You know it. Pugs suck, that's all there is to it. Personally, I'd rather tank a boss in such a way as to make it easier for the lesser skilled players in the group. I mean, I know that me and half of the raid can see the fires, the debuff, the DBM warnings... but that half of the raid can still wipe if we lose enough of the other players.

I have both tanked and dps'd Koralon. While dps'ing, there have been times when it's hard to find a spot without fire, when the tank is not kiting slowly. It can cost about 5-10 seconds to find a new spot without fire. Therefore, I always kite around the room (slowly) when tanking. Within halve a circle he's always down.

I just do as I did on Magmadar - just step out of the fire and obviously keep him facing away from the raid, simple as that.

Why complicate such a simple fight?

Thers absolutely no reason to move him at all, I dont know which guy invented moving him around the room which just makes it difficult for everyone. I tank him standing still at the back wall, if I get a fire under me, I rotate slightly to get out of fire without actually moving the boss.

Melee dps will always have a free spot to dps from. I find that if ppl start moving the boss you are causing fires to go all over the room and people have to start moving away because you are kiting the boss into them.

This... I have never ran into an issue using this strat..

Given that without overgearing him I've managed to survive his latest non-shared meteor fists, I'd say that yes, an overgeared raid can do this easily. Curiously the hardest boss to solotank in VoA is Archavon.

Solo tank 10 Voa regularly, on a 59k drood though.
Just have a war/dk sw/ibf and taunt, arch hits like a girl.

On last reset we had two proper tanks, both took ~45k damage in total for the entire fight. I'd say when you use cooldowns you can solo-tank it with 9 dps.

I know he wont meteor fist me in the back while I am moving, and its a good way to remind me incase I am falling asleep.
