[10N] Single tanking ToC

Postby Stinkpalm » Thu Aug 27, 2009 6:47 pm

If anyone was curious how difficult it was...

Single tanked it tonight, we had a shortage of tanks for 2 groups for our 10 man.

Beasts - Just do a hand of reckoning taunt and then have a bubble/cancel bubble macro to clear the impales. If your dps is high enough you can just bubble when he is dead.

We killed Acidmaw first, need to be sure to have someone debuff the poison off you with fire if you get the slow debuff. Probably the most important part when single tanking.

Lord Jaraxxus - Just tanked him on top of the add spawns and had melee help burn them so they didnt take a lot of aoe dmg. Healing didnt have much of an issue healing thru it

Faction Champions - Not much of a change, pretty ez

Twin Val'kyr - Got the light buff, had all dps on the Darkbane since my threat is obviously low on the Lightbane. I tanked near the dark portal and had most of the group there so they could switch quick to the dark buff when needed to burn Lightbane. My threat was so high on the dark one early that i had no trouble switching between the two

Anub - Either have a DK's chains up ice spam the add on an ice patch, or taunt him and have the dps and yourself stun/wrath lock him. Shouldn't get to many stacks of the debuff.

All in all not that hard at all, 1 shot everything.

At what gear level is it solo-tankable?

For beasts, remember you can cast Hand of Reckoning, THEN bubble/cancel while the boss has the taunt debuff. Saves you relying on someone else :)

Sounds like a good plan, twins was so easy on 25m, I can see 10m being solo tankable pretty easily.

Single-tanking 10-man:

On Gormok you can just wait until he dies to bubble.
I tank both Acidmaw and Dreadscale next to eachother and people nuke Acidmaw, it's a bit of a problem for melee.
Icehowl obviously isn't a problem.

Jaraxxus isn't a problem at all, I pick up the mistress and no one dpses it, he should die about when the first volcano appears.

You don't need any tanks for Faction Champions.

Everyone gets the light orb, dpses the dark one, stand by the dark orb. You do significantly reduced threat on the light valkyr, but no one's dpsing that one so it doesn't matter.

No idea about Anub.

Don't the valkyr get angry if you tank them together? Thought i saw an ability that makes them not want to be tanked together.

Did this last night and I can assure you they don't. Or if they are supposed to... that's broken.

So i guess on normal mode that makes them hit about as hard as a normal raid boss?

My staggeringly badly geared alt tanked a twin, and took less damage than she did on gormok/dreadscale, so their unbuffed output doesn't seem that high on 10.

I seem to recall getting hit on 25-man by a twin anywhere between 8k and 200. Increasing their damage on 10-man (if it does, I certainly didn't notice anything) isn't even troublesome, far from dangerous.

I solo tanked Anub'arak the other day.

It is important that all adds are dead before phase 3. And when Anubarak goes underground, the adds should also all get killed.
In the 1st Phase1 I just tanked boss and adds. Dmg on boss.
Occasionally holy wrath to stun adds. And if too many debuffs, use bubble.

Never ever consider trying this on Heroic mode, though. You won't survive it.

I solo tank both normal-10 and heroic-10... everything except Anub. The extra DPS does wonders. And, yeah, no need for another player to taunt Gormok on the impales -- just hand of reck, watch the debuff list to make sure it didn't fail, and then bubble cancel. I do this, on heroic, when I reach 7 stacks. I use Hand of Salv at 5-6 stacks and a pain suppression somewhere in this area if we have a disc priest.

solo tanking anub on 10 man isnt hard at all. when the adds spawn, simply taunt them.. as they get near u, hammer them, build threat.. before the stun wears off the add is dead or sub 15%.. he may get 1-2 debuffs on me.. (which rarely happens) but its not a big deal since anub doesnt hit to hard on 10 man normal...

For Anub in 10 normal with 1 tank we just have a DK chains of ice spam then on a patch and nuke him. Works well

I took it further and tried 1 tank 1 healering normal 10... was very easy.
Gormok had no problems eating 6 stacks (then he died), bubble out, profit.
All other fights are explained above...
Anub is even easier because he hits p3 so fast only 1 add spawns, and just stun + kill it fast to avoid stacking buffs. He doesnt spawn adds in p3 on normal, so afk and finish.
