Hi,

we did it yesterday. We used 2 healers, because otherwise we'd hit the enrage timer. Phases 1 to 3 needed a lot of training... phase 1 is learning how to control the fires, phase 2 is a healer / positioning test. In phase 3 we just ignored the emergency bots (just watch out that you're not getting hit by their blue beam), and I tanked and kited all the junk bots and assault bots clockwise or counter-clockwise (different in each try, depending on where the least fires were). Also, in phase 3 we had 3 ranged DPS permanently on the ACU, the other 2 ranged were on the ACU only when it was rooted, and our 2 melees where on the assault bots permanently. Junk bots died to AE and were only focussed when the ACU and all assault bots were down.

In good attempts we started with almost no fires and several emergency bots up in phase 4 (where we continued to ignore them, they just died to random AE). A few good attempts in phase 4, and we killed it despite 4 dead (1 BR, 1 SS) in that attempt, 2 seconds into berserk.

We've hit the berserk timer a few times before that, and in the kill we needed 3 minutes for phase 4.

So, you do not need 3 healers for progression. You do need 2 very good healers though, we had a holy pally and a resto druid. Also, we didn't have heroism yesterday and no priest stamina buff, and only 1 external cooldown for plasma blasts in phase 1 (which means, the 3rd plasma had to be healed through without any cooldowns, because I didn't use the salvation glyph). About 80% of the time there was no problem, and on the other 20% the new ardent defender kicked in. We didn't wipe a single attempt on plasma blasts.

Sounds like you could use better raid balance (buffs) or just better DPS overall. Grats, all the same!

Even with multiple ToC hardmodes down, it appears that we still can't finish Firefighter-10. :(

A couple of questions:

- What is the optimal positioning during P2->P3 and P3->P4 transitions (preferrably for both 'kill emergency bots' and 'let them roam free' tactics)?
- Are there any special tricks that would allow melee-heavy groups (with a single hunter as ranged DPS) to kill the head in P4 in time, apart from stopping the damage on bottom and center altogether and waiting for the hunter to do his job? I've heard rumors about Baby Spice, but they sorta contradict each other.

A single good ranged DPS should be able to kill the head before the enrage. Make sure you have other classes hitting it with any ranged abilities that they may have (Hammer of Wrath).

Transition positions are to simply find the wall nearest the highest concentration of fire. Just slowly kite the fires along that wall and then run to your phase positions when you've got 5-7 seconds until the phase begins. If you're killing firefighter bots in phase 3, just position your melee on their spawn point before they spawn. You shouldn't have to worry too much about fire at that point.

cleave and WW hit the head now btw, make a warrior go fury and glyph cleave if you're really that short on ranged dps. even in welfare gear my warrior was ridiculously crushing everyone on damage on regular mimiron 25 (and kolo!) since they changed the hitboxes on them. i'd guess other cleaves hit the head too.

Thanks for the advice, got our first kill last night. :)

It turned out that cleaves (especially of the Swipe(Cat) variety) did the trick perfectly.

Now to repeat the feat next week with a caster-heavy setup...

What's the damage boost for hard-mode over normal?

Tooltip on Wowhead says 17k damage for normal mode plasma blast. Last Firefighter attempt I have logs for, I was getting hit for 17,667 damage per tick w/o cooldowns and, assuming Divine Plea (3%), Righteous Fury (6%), and Blessing of Sanctuary (3%) that works out to ~20k... which would indicate a +15% damage boost.

Does that sound right? Or did they totally remove the damage boost, and the tooltip on WoWhead is wrong and should say 20k? +15% sounds like an odd value
