text macro
How can I write a macro so I'll say something but it won't spam chatlog's if I click the macro a million times?
Examples would be when you see a Death Knight spamming "Get over here!" a billion times because the spammed their Death Grip.

Re: text macro
Use TJH instead and set up a rule for when that spell/aura is applied.

This is probably the best solution unless you want to do some scripting in your macro.
By far my favourite TJH rule is
"SPELL_AURA_APPLIED;;;Ardent Defender;self;SAY;eep.", --

Re: text macro
is that the only way?
I have a few characters I wouldn't mind putting text into macro's for... my DK being one, pally being another.
Mage, priest and lock also have amusing macro's I could write, unfortunately if I hit the button 20 times, the party or raid would get spammed with the text portions even if the spell is on CD.

Re: text macro
As far as I know there's no other way - something needs to detect whether the spell went off or not, and decide whether to say something or not in response. The only way I can think of doing that is catching an event, for which you'll need a mod (not necessarily TJH, if you just want it for one ability there are smaller mods to do it with, or you could write your own for the smallest possible).
Or you could just not spam your button.
Or you could just not spam your button.

Re: text macro
The Macro API will not allow you to add conditionals for cast success due to it allowing you to bot to some degree.

Tuesday maintenance is merely a setback!
