/dump command legal?
I've seen some macros posted around the net which make use of the /dump command.
It seems to let you macro anything you want, even events such as casting a spell such that you can make a macro to:
Cast icy touch if out of melee range
if in melee range cast PS if blood plague isn't up, else cast icy touch if frost fever isn't up else cast blood strike
etc
Or one to do perfect wall jumps by delaying then jumping etc.
Which I don't think is intended?
There isn't much in the prot paladin rotation that actually changes so I doubt there is anything useful for us in this command. (other than making it cast DP if DP isn't up, for convenience, say)
Anyone else seen these macros springing up? I assume it will be fixed soon.

Re: /dump command legal?
This is not intended to bypass the protected functions. This would be considered a bannable offense and more than likely will, considering they fixed cast random macros for this same reason. Not to mention unless you specifically change a CVar, all your macros are stored on Blizzard's end which they can go through. I would advise against using these macros, but people will do what they want anyway. I'll leave this thread open for discussion but once this get out of control expect a lock.

Ah well, if its not intended and will be removed soon then its not worth making macros for really!
I wonder how a huge bug like this slipped through their QA for patches?

Personally, I wouldn't. This sounds like exactly the sort of easily detectable thing you'd get banned for. It also sounds very much like it isn't legal.
Don't make me sarcasm you...

It's also going to take a client-side patch to fix this one since it deals with the blizzard interface. And yes, I would NOT use these.

Re: /dump command legal?
Huh, interesting.
There's a really quick and easy way to figure out if what you're doing could be bannable: Does it get around a restriction they put in place to prevent such behavior? If so, then you probably shouldn't do it.
Since blizzard removed this functionality from macros, finding a way to add it again is probably not what they intended.

Was reading some of macros people have come up with using this. I can see why they'd definitely need to prevent this working again, but at the same time you can do some really cool things
Wish there was a legit way to play around with the functions available.

There's another way to see if it's intended or not. To use it, you need to disable your addons and then type in a command that creates a weird error message. Sounds like a cheat/bug to me...

I can 100% guarantee this command will be removed.
I've seen macros for rogues to follow conditionals like <5 seconds left on slice and dice with more than 4 combo points, use slice and dice, 5> Left on SnD use rupture, If target is casting and spell is interupptable, kick. and some other pretty insane 1 button playing macros.

I'm not the right person to address violations of the ToS or forum banning. However, we don't think the current use of the macro is fair and we intend to stop it as soon as we can.

Further, or at least I assume it's the same thing:

World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.2.0a
We’ll be releasing a minor bug fix patch to version 3.2.0a. This sort of patch is very small in size, and we use them to fix specific issues that can’t be hot-fixed. Issues addressed with this patch:
* Fixed an exploit players were using with / commands

I used to play a paladin.
