It most certainly will be superior threatwise, but you'd lose a decent amount of avoidance through defense, but the agility may prove superior to that defense avoidance wise

Yup, your intuition is correct. Looking at a fully raid buffed Paladin in T9.75 and mostly ilvl 245/258 items, the post DR avoidance difference between 58 AGI on the DPS 1H (and more on the ilvl258 version which surely exists) and 43 defense rating on Broken Promise is on the scale of 0.01-0.02%. The deciding factor would be your defense rating. Thankfully T9 has a relative glut of defense rating. Most Paladins will probably be over 689 without even trying, even if their weapon slot provides 0 defense rating.

Wouldn't affect seal proc on HotR at all since it depends on the weapon speed and not on the time between swings.

For us, with un-normalised attacks weapon speed is HUGE. Considering that weapon DPS only affects white damage and HotR damage, while weapon speed affects seal procs off HotR, the two effects are pretty similar.

Doubling the weapon speed doubles your damage of a seal proc from HotR. Its a great stat for us! Shame you can't gem it...

Won't this also be true of the Judgement seal proc? Or has that been changed?

Indeed, if Judgement procing SoV is intended.

It used to stack SoV back on the beta WOTLK which was fun for holy paladins as you could run away at 115% while judging justice on someone and stacking a 5-stack of SoV on them. You could kill anyone who wasn't a healer that way if you had enough space to run! ;)

Now its not stacking the dot, but it is proccing the instant-damage apparently.

If it's proccing the 33% damage and not the dot, it probably is intended, seeing as, if I remember correctly, judgement is considered a melee hit in terms of hit chance and crit damage, and melee special abilities are supposed to proc the weapon damage and not the DoT (not counting HotR of course.)

Looks like Anub'arak will drop our weapon. There isn't a ilvl258 version in the armory database.

Crusader's Glory
522 bonus armor
76 STA, 58 STR
31 defense rating
14 dodge rating
Blue socket, +4 dodge rating bonus

Just ran the numbers on it. The original weapon speed simulation is here, the updated plot that includes Hellscream Slicer and Crusader's Glory is a few posts later.

Amusingly, if you spec 5/5 SotP and 5/5 Reckoning, Broken Promise is still slightly better for threat. For Crusade specs though, Sorthalis and CG beat it pretty solidly.
