Cooking with Maintankadin
So right now I am making a wonderful meat loaf for dinner.
Not my pics just examples of said loaf of meat are below.
What do you guys like to cook, or want to cook, or wish you could cook? I like new foods.

I wish I were better at preparing various types of fish..
I love fish...I cook it for shit
Also, there is a really good Indian restaurant down the street in one direction, and really good Thai restaurant down the street in the opposite direction.
I love both Indian and Thai food, but don't know the first thing about cooking either.

Grilling is one of my things...is using store bought marinade considered cheating?

I actually make my own marinade, but SOME of the store bought ones are pretty damn good.

Had delicious fried chicken and mashed potatoes last night. Wish I knew more ways to cook beef than "Stick it in a pan and wait for all the red to go away".

Nah I would not think so.
I want to get into grilling myself, I would probably use my own marinade. I like messing with flavors.

I like making my own, but for the times you need something non-experimental, Stubbs Chicken Marinade is fantastic.
A great side dish is made by slicing potatoes fairly thin, and tossing them between two sheets of aluminum foil. You'll also want to coat the potatoes with a decent olive oil, and add salt, pepper, thyme, bay, and rosemary. Chuck those on your grill, flip once.

Also on the cooking with foil tip, this works with any kind of white fish and probably many others as well:
Put the fish on the foil,
salt
pepper
one of the following: fresh thyme, oregano, dill
garlic clove(s), smashed
small slice of lemon (goes a long way)
dash of olive oil
Seal the foil well, and put it in the oven or on the grill @ around 400-425, cooking for around 20-30 minutes depending on the thickness of the fish. This is my favorite way to cook fresh fish.

I quite enjoy making my own chocolate mousse.
http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/ch ... e_p_1.html is about right, although I don't bother with the garnishing or liqueur.

Don't make me sarcasm you...

Alton Brown made some chili once where he used crushed tortilla chips instead of beans. I've always been curious to make it and see what it was like. Lore, get on it.

OMG Aergis and I love grilling and we love to cook. I am a future student of the culinary arts institute of the art institute in Seattle
Hmmm homemade marinade... okay get a good steak, yummy marbling.
Mike some Soy Vey Marinade with A1 sauce and Worshestershire Sauce (spelling sucks). Put steak in ziplock baggies, pour in marinade, suck out the air, zip, let marinade at least two hours, grill! so good.
