Solo MC

Postby masterpoobaa » Wed Jul 08, 2009 8:03 pm

I want to run MC a few times, but need good strats for soloing it.
I find the firelord fire elemental at the start highly annoying, as they spawn a heap of adds by the time i kill them, and they do long silences.

Whats the best way to go?
What mobs should i just avoid?
how much DPS do the 'dead' fire corehounds need to keep them down?
Ellifain @ Khaz'Goroth does not approve of torture, save where there's experience/rep/loot involved.

Kill the adds when they are spawned for the firelords. Even if you are silenced at the time, they can still be auto attacked down in that time before they split.
Ret gear will make trash much faster, nothing really needs to be avoided.
By "dead fire corehounds", I assume you mean the core hound packs before Magmadar. They all just need to die within about 15 seconds of each other. Not difficult.

When I was still clearing it weekly, I would go in for Luci/Mag/Garr. Then take a break to let the surgers and core hounds despawn. Head back in for for the rest.
Specs I usually used-
Luci - prot when I first started, then ret once I got the hang of it.
Mag - same
Garr - same
Gehennas - prot
Geddon - ret since the beginning
Shazz - ret
Sulfuron - prot the first few times, then ret
Golemag - prot
Majordomo - ret
Rag - prot first time, ret every other.

Orrrrr you can be smart and skip the firelords by swimming in the lava.

I did that. thanks for the tip.
Farming all the adds for lava and fiery cores was easy after that.

Also, i did a bit of experimentation with the fire lords.
I let the adds spawn uncontrolled, ended up with maybe a dozen of them, dozen and a half in total.
But they do despawn eventually if you just leave them alone.

That's true.

Also, everything except bosses (and sometimes even bosses) can be evaded in lava. For boss you'll have to be additionally out of sight, else he'll port you to him.

I do all the trash except the dog packs as ret, it's really much faster.
Keep Sacred Shield up all the time and you'll have no problem. Divine Storm heals a good amount of health when you have 4 mobs on you. If you need to heal, try to wait for AoW and the SS proc to throw a FoL.

If you get silenced by a Firelord, you can still use Crusader Strike and Divine Storm. It's a bit slower but I've never had more than two spawns.

You know you can skip all the trash up to garr sans a rock elemental by jumping into the lava at the beginning and swimming to the little rocky outcrop before gehennas(? The one that is nigh impossible to solo). All the rest to garr can be skipped. Invisible potions are also a huge plus.
