Eye for an Eye. Settle a bet.
I'm wondering if Eye for an Eye is of any use at all past 540 def. Another Prot pally told me that I should invest into Eye for an Eye instead of Crusade. I'm of the impression that once you hit 540, you can't be crit by mobs up to 3 levels higher than you, spells and all, making Eye for an Eye a total waste in any type of PvE situation.
Unless you can still be crit by other players at 540 def, and as he plays on a PvP server, that may be a factor.
But I'm saying it's useless, and not worth losing Crusade at ALL.

It's useless (for tanking). Your instincts were 100% correct. Also mob spells can't crit at all (unless you're sitting down, why would you sit down?). Hope you win something good out of this bet!

It's useful in PvP, and against the very rare mobs that can crit you at 540. Crusade is over nine thousand times better, however.
Don't make me sarcasm you...

Mobs spells just plain can't crit, regardless of your defense. E4E is worthless in PvE.
On the other hand, for PvP you most certainly can be crit by other players at 540 defense, as 540 simply reduces your chance to be crit by 5.6% and most players have a bit higher crit chance than that

It'd work on Thorim. It's make for an interesting combat log kill screenshot.

I don't think mob spells can crit even if you do sit down.

Also if you got resilience on you, even non-crits can proc E4E.
Then again how often do you tank with resilience gear on?
(never if you're doin it rite.)

Sometimes if you really need to make up to uncrittable. Say hello to the shoulder inscription with it, for example.

Looking through my old WWS Thorim can crit for 17k. (I can't tell how many charges he had with this though probably not many). But that with E4E would be only 3k Damage. AKA E4E is not better than Crusade even for gimmick fights like Thorim.

jeez, what thorim are you fighting? i got hit with non-crit strike for 30k
crits will basically kill you in PVE, no point in investing into talents that reward you for nearly killing you

Naturally it depends on how long you've been fighting him. He could crit for over 900,000 if you can stay alive long enough to see it. Personally I don't think I've seen anything higher than a 30k crit.

some of the enrage timer hits are pretty ridiculous, would be rather hilarious if you sit crit and get a boss kill out of it

I believe E4E crits are limited to 50% of your hp so the max should be about 20k

Only with resilience, which I'm guessing you don't have.
