I am at school so I can't link my armory and I don't remember what gear I logged out in anyway so sorry for that in advance.

I just got Demise yesterday and I forgot to raise the weapon skill to max before I ran a heroic with some friends. I kinda figured it wouldn't be a bad idea since it was like 376/400 but for some reason I could hardly do over 1k dps. I used to do way over this with my sword.

Some stats that I remember off hand:
2800 Power
26% Crit

Would my weapon skill not being max gimp my DPS THAT much.

Maxing out weapon skill really makes a huge difference, yes. Getting boosted through a few instances is a great way to do it, though. When your weapon skill is low, you are essentially lowering your character-level. A lot more misses, a lot more glancing blows.

Low weapon skill massively gimps your DPS. Massively.

And I agree that getting boosted is the fastest way to raise it - the higher the mob level, the greater chance to raise the level, so boss mobs are great. Generally, I'll get my skill close to maxed by doing dailies, but the last few points can be very hard to come by. I'll often raise them in some non-progression raid.

I used to just go beat on the self-healing trees below Dalaran. Seal light and read Maintankadin in another window.

Also helps to buy the grey weapon of the correct type from the Dalaran vendor -- they're all fastest-in-slot -- and create a "max haste" gear set in your gear manager of choice.

I like doctor boom. You can fly behind him out of reach of his adds. He'll occasionally throw dynamite on you so seal light and put up fire resist aura. If you have a holy set it's great. More SoL healing, haste and less damage done to him so he lasts longer.

Did you loose a lot of hit when switching to Demise?
