FYI General + 1/2 SA is no-go
I tried tanking General in 10-man yesterday with just 1/2 SA.
I was oom after about 2 minutes.

Drop Consecration or replace every other one with exorcism. Problem solved.

yup, cuz then your dps will overaggro after a minute...

you need to have sanctuary on you unless you are taking enough damage, in which case kings would be better. Always have both when you can. Sanctuary > Kings when its 10 man damage and you have mana issues. For bosses switch to kings though.
I almost never go oom in all situations and I rarely use mana pots anymore compared to pre 3.1. Seriously its not hard. Now if I could convince our MT that 5/5 benediction and 2/2 SA isnt as good as JotJ and crusade.

I was having a bit of trouble with mana on the General in 10-man as well, but I was able to get through it.

3) Make a macro or do whatever you need to do to keep your dps from pulling off you with the Shadow Crash damage buff. I made a macro for my arcane/fire mage Dashny for his 10k dps threat that gives him Hand of Protection AND Hand of Salvation if he pulls (since the General, like a bastard, is taunt immune). But, lately, he's been pretty good about invis'ing right at the last second, so it hasn't been as necessary.
It was funny the first time it happened. He was all excited on vent, "OMG, guys! I'm doing ten-thousand dps! Uh... OMG! I pulled! Solare, can you take it back?!"
My reply? "Uh... no?"

Dropping consecration helps a lot. Replace it with exorcism as much as you can.
Maybe I just run with bad DPS, but I had no issues with tanking aggro, only dying because healers weren't on par that night.

As a counter-anecdote, I tanked General in 10-man yesterday with 1/2 SA and didn't have any mana problems, nor did any of my DPS out-threat me. I was able to use consecrate most of the time, dropping it only when I fell below around 30% mana (and replacing it with Exorcism).
To be fair though, I had Sanc and Kings. On a fight like Vezax though, you really can't afford to drop Sanctuary, probably even with 2/2 SA. You'd just have to grit your teeth and deal with the lack of Kings for that fight. Luckily in 10-man he doesn't hit hard enough that it will matter so much.

My guild doesn't take 10 mans seriously so we're not on General yet, but can you not stand in the Shadow Crash for bigger hits? It doubles magic damage, so even if you're a little low on mana, it seems like you'd be able to catch up.

I've tanked General 2 times (2 kill) in 25 man raid. Yes, mana can be problem after 1-2 min but then just dont use your cons and you're fine to go. You have adapt yourself to your mana bar in that fight. I'm doing like 1.2-1.3 million total threat with even dropping some spell rotation.
